I’m sure the degree of applause during lap of honour is very important when deciding your future. Right up there with salary, league/chance of trophies and manager.

Lavia would probably stay if the level applause were just turned up from faint to moderate.

I guess it is down to each individual how they go about things, there are two "loves" in my life, one is football and all who take part in it and the other is Southampton Football Club and all who are involved with it, both suitors have to share my appreciation, it isn't exclusive to one or the other.

Lyanco had the armband when Prowsie went off (which I slightly love - having the chief mentalist as captain).

Not that it really matters, but Lyanco being above Bednarek in the captain stakes is interesting.

He must have handed it back at the end, in which case great respect for both.

Klipperty says “I really felt from the first second today that Southampton is a really good club,”
“When you see the people - after getting relegated which is obviously the worst thing you want to happen - and then the atmosphere is like that today, I have to say that’s pretty special. I like that a lot.

I’m not saying it’s the main reason but it could be a reason. If I’m working in what I perceive to be a toxic environment I’m not going to stay around

Ha, you’re a brave man saying that here. Even if it’s true; Franny was a great athlete, great attitude - very average footballer. He’s a Saints legend because, well - we’re Saints.

Yes, and always gave the impression that wearing our shirt was a matter of pride and importance to him and to those watching. Though to be fair there were times when one looked the other way with some of his efforts to hold the line!

Born in Southampton and a Saints fan, 16 years at the club with nearly 400 senior games and never relegated (we got relegated the season after he retired!).
His herculean efforts to raise money for charity has elevated him to another level of legend.

The guy is absolutely a club legend but he wasn't a great footballer unfortunately.

No, but we’re would we be now if we had a franny personality in the team? He’s a character you need in a relegation fight.

He definitely had fight and passion. Didn't see any of that from anyone this season.
