Thought I’d bring this back up despite most people, as usual for NUFC fans, commenting only on negative aspects. Forget Hayden. We now have 3 young midfielders. Anderson, White and Miley. Anderson has looked ok in last few games and clearly needs game time. White - has been involved in first team football despite not being eligible to play Miley - made his debut and certainly didn’t look out our place against a World Cup winning £100m player I would keep Anderson and guarantee him certain starting games as well as a bench place White needs to go to a championship team, are you listening Shola? Miley - could EH treat him the same way as Pep treated Foden?
Newcastle don't need squad players or back up players they need players that are all good enough to compete at the highest level.
Yet you’ve just said we don’t need squad or back up players. At this stage the 3 players I mentioned would be considered as that.
I know that's what I'm getting at!!! This notion that certain players ate simply there as back up. They deserve and should be good enough to play and todays requirement is good enough to play at the highest level.
But they need something called development. Anyway, EH wants Miley to stay in the first team squad next season soo looks like signing one less midfielder
Gordon has gotten that goal scoring monkey off his back, so I suspect to see an improvement in his play.
Tbph, we didn't play him enough, it's on us. One game Gordon could have played we instead chose Anderson, who was invisible. We seemingly have came to the conclusion that Gordon should be playing LCM, where we usually play Longstaff, which I could of told Howe since day one. It's exactly where he played at Everton. Gordon has great movement off the ball, he finds space and passes around players. I think its glaringly obvious he has tons of natural talent, now we have FINALLY decided to play him in the right place, perhaps we will see more from him.
Really don’t get where all these James Maddison fan boys have come from. He was last years news, he wants £250k a week. We’re not signing him. Connor Gallagher on the other hand …..,
Rather have Maddison all day but tbh I don't care who they are they seem to be excellent at building the side
Chelsea were asking for over £45 million for Gallagher in January, according to reports. I hope those reports are wrong, as that would be overpaying.
We probably have to keep at least a couple of them for home grown quotas right? We can't really buy that many players and anyway id rather we stuck with Anderson who looks decent and gave the young lads mins, particularly Miley a chance to develop with the 1st team.
