I think Di Resta will start on mediums. I think Sutil set a lap but Di Resta didn't and Force India often split their cars.

Yeah, although that might be a bit risky for them as they have more to lose in way than Sauber in terms of Championship Positions but we'll see tomorrow whether they take in my view a bit of risk.

My point ages ago followed the start of next season. McLarens to start the season poorly as usual.
This race they will get away just fine. I can see contacts between Webber, Alonso, Massa and maybe Schumacher.

The DRS zone has been extended by 75 metres. Don't think this will make much of a difference though. I think we could see a few brave moves into turn 8 on the first lap because overtaking opportunities will be limited in the race. The Red Bull's and possibly Button are vulnerable on the straights.

I reckon the top five after lap one will be in this order:

If Hamilton get's a bad start:
    1. Vettel
    2. Button
    3. Hamilton
    4. Alonso
    5. Webber

If Hamilton get's a good start:
    1. Button
    2. Alonso
    3. Webber
    4. Hamilton/Vettel
    5. Massa

I've noticed recently that Virgin and HRT seem able to extract only a few tenths from their option tyres over the primes as opposed to the second or so that other teams seem to get. Lotus look like they pick up over a second-and-a-half on their options. Anyone know why?

fair play to lewis , i have noticed he has been a little more circumspect these last few races and has been pulling out of the kind of maneuvers that have got him into trouble thruout the season ,

i think whitmarsh has probally blown down his ear at some stage to engage his brain before he presses the loud peddle , thats not to say it will not happen at the first corner today , but lewis does seem to have toned it down a little in recent races ---

then again it is a catch 22 situation with hamilton as to me he only knows one way to drive , he tones down his aggression and it would seem some his speed goes with it --

Absolutely. Try to change a drivers style and inevitabley they will be slower, at least for a bit, until they adopt a new style.

2012 is the cruch season for him. Needs to rediscover the form that has eluded him this year. Hopefully just a blip, they all have them at some point in their careers, its how they come out the other side that matters

    good morning saint -

hope you are looking forward to the race , bloody awful track , but really looking forward to the vettel , hamilton , button scrap , not sure if webber will be a factor today --

not sure if lewis has the ability to change his style and still be as effective as he was during 07 and 08 ,
i personally think the new refueling format and pirelli tyres have taken the edge of his game compared to where he was in 07 and 08 hence some of his desperate moves this year --
all this about his plastic dolly giving him his P45 and mirrors he cant see out of and being in a happy "bubble " with his family and lord knows what else does not cut any ice with me -

having said that it would not surprise me if he wins today --

I watch Lewis now thinking don't make a stupid move. I can also see a crash between him and Vettel.

Oh, I agree but for there to be any chance of a real race, it's crucial that he doesn't let Vettel get away at the start. I'm looking forward to it but if Seb speeds off into the distance it could be as dull as Valencia.

What worries me more is Lewis will think this and may feel the need to go all guns blazing into turn 1.

Funny, just last year we all used to worry about Vettel crashing into everyone... ;) I'm reasonably confident that Lewis won't get it wrong but not completely confident. He seems to be over his stupid stuff now. Still, they'll be a nervous few seconds when the lights go out.

Vettel could of caused a few accidents at the starts this year if it was not for the other driver. So if Hamilton is not going to yield and Vettel does do one of his overly aggressive starts then they could easily come together.

I'm confident it will happen, based on Hamilton's comments yesterday. Vettel will turn in aggressively into turn one and Hamilton will not back out. Vettel spins and Hamilton loses front wing. Or maybe Hamilton wont get close enough, and everything will be fine.

Even if the top drivers avoid each other, I'm sure we'll see some action at the start - Buemi is under pressure, as are Senna, Petrov, Sutil and possibly Trulli and Liuzzi.
