About time!! Lets face it, nobody in their right mind would turn down doubling their wages, its not as if he actually supports Hull is it? Although I'm disappointed about the whole affair and I'm not going to wish him luck as I hope he fails miserably, I would like to thank him for sorting the team out and laying a good foundation for the future. Now P*ss off and hands off our players!
I guess we will out tomorrow weather we have got mclaren or pulled the short straw, hopefully a nice but if compo will help pay a bit more money out to a manager proven at this level
A lot of conflicting stuff in that! But this saga does highlight how weird some Chairman will behave. They will knowingly pay over the odds for a player (say a winger) because a Manager says he needs one and so and so is available. Everyone (including the Chairman) knows he's worth half of what the Chairman shells out, "but we need him". However when it comes to the most important person at the club, they don't want to pay anything like real compensation. This lack of respect for the job is highlighted by the fact that when the team don't put in a consistent shift the Manager is the first one to go, ie they think of his as the least important, "lets go and nick another one".
YAY! More speculation and made up facts! I doubt anyone will announce what the payoff is, but I guarantee people will complain about the amount....despite not knowing what it is...or more likely make **** up then complain about the **** they made up... The important thing here is, LCFC wanted NP in and sorted last week, they'll get him next week. The entire thing has been on Papa Allams terms. LCFC, you lose, enjoy middle table mediocrity, now good day sir.
I am with you on this one, but I suspect that NP wasn't their first choice, and maybe they feel to pay over a million for the 2nd or 3rd choice manager is over the odds. The more this has gone on, the more I have seen the arrogant side of NP, who has a very high opinion of himself. Even though he has done a good job for us, I don't think he is as good as he thinks.
No we've already got the 'players on paper' to be at the top. But would love Chester and Stewart too. We need somebody like NP to give them a 'kick up the proverbial'. So glad he has come back and I can only see us going onwards and upwards now.
Walshy, its really not as simple as being able to buy the Championship imo. You may have good players on paper, but they've clearly either not been trying, or don't like each other, and Nige doesnt suffer fools gladly, so I suspect some egos are going to be squeezed somewhat (a good thing imo) but rather than bringing them on, its just as likely to make them throw strops. Next season, once Nige has had time, IF he gets time, sure, I agree you'll be a force in this league, but its too late for Nige to do what Nige does for you this season. Remember, the cockney ****er Bullard's played every game this season for the tractor boys, its hard to deny he could be a great player, yet Nige clearly had no time for him and, thankfully, offloaded the ****er for free. LCFC isnt NPs team, not yet, and wont be for some time.
I think it's safe to assume that the settlement ended somewhere in the middle of what they wanted to pay and what we were demanding. Hopefully we'll get an announcement tomorrow, it's unlikely to confirm any amount, but it might confirm any restrictions that prevent bids for our players for a while.
I hope that we managed to negotiate a clause such the one that we had when Parky came from Colchester. No approaches allowed for players permitted for a certain time period.
Rather than the monehy, surely the whole point of the delay was so we could sort a new manager in the meantime. Why should we help Lester by giving them a full week with their new manager while we look for a new one? Now we seem to have sorted it, they can have their man.
In the short term, nothing that the club does will look right. I just hope that who ever we get in doesn't come with the attitude that they will bring in the players they need. They have to work with just about what we have got now and not make dramatic changes. I how been puzzled by the amount of players that we have brought in who have not delivered the goods in terms of goals. Simpson comes to mind, what happened. Fryatt is not delivering as promised and ok Wagstaff got injuried but has he made a real difference in the goals tally. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like we have been spending too much time having faith in NP's big plan and lost our way. I sort of understand business, but the last few months have not quite been good value from the striker front.
This seems to suggest that your squad is reasonable value for money - Just not World beaters - There again ours are clearly a poor return for the money - Nice to see Leeds getting great value http://www.thescratchingshed.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Transfer-Effectiveness.png
I think we might come out of this whole thing in pretty good shape. The only unknown factors now relate to the qualities of the new manager and how quickly the team adapt to his methods, but I imagine we have an extra £million to go for a big, mobile striker in Jan and that could be more relevant to our success than this whole escapade.
