I can't remember if it was Lyall Thomas or Sam Mokbel who mentioned we felt "misled" at some point in the Slot negotiations when it broke that he was staying put, but it did stick out

And with this comment, it does start to look like Slot's agent used us as leverage to get her client a bumper deal, and by complete coincidence doubled up their agent fee - and that we never considered that, just because Mino "****" Raiola died last year, that doesn't mean the agent of his former clients won't follow in his footsteps

In other words, expect Di Marzio's sudden touting of Vinny Italian to lead to him getting the Napoli job

GVA are suggesting that Genk sporting director Dimitri De Conde is on our radar

Obviously a grain of salt is needed, since nobody seems to have mentioned him before (so assume his agent is leaking his name to Belgian sources so our Tier 1 sources run with it and he gets a new deal, which wouldn't be the first time that's happened with a Benelux team this week...) but here's the interesting thing: Genk operate a lot like we did under Arnesen, where we uncover talents that can be brought in for a low fee but command a larger fee 3-4 years later

Case in point, here's some players uncovered by De Conde: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Leon Bailey, Timothy Castagne, Wilfried Ndidi, Sander Berge, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Joakim Maehle, Leandro Trossard, Kristian Thorstvedt

Obviously we would need to get the right balance, because while Dortmund or Atalanta have shown they can thrive by generating huge margins on players that enable them to buy two, three or four starters for the next season and repeat as often as they wish, there's the obvious example of Leicester who clearly hit a wall with this strategy a couple of seasons ago and it spiralled out of control as a result

Also, the idea of making a profit on a player is something that does appeal, since I'm reasonably sure the last (non-youth) players we sold at a profit were Kyle Walker and Kevin Wimmer

I am really not sure anymore, who is and who isn’t a good candidate to be a Spurs manager. Very few of the few people that have been mentioned really inspire me as a fan, but if I am honest some of my favourite managers didn’t particularly inspire me when they joined us. That includes Martin Jol, Harry and Poch.

What the new manager needs is to come in with a new broom and be given licence to clear the crap out. He then needs the good players of which we do still have a few to play for the shirt and he needs to play attacking football on the front foot. He also needs to be given time, we are in a hole right now it will not be a quick fix.

So I am actually quite open to any of the managers mentioned (even Brendan who is a cock) because they really cant play more boring and tedious football than we have this year. We all want the team to be successful, but more than that I want to be entertained, we haven’t really been entertained on a regular basis since early 2019? I don’t think that is too much to ask for right now.

I think the trouble for Spurs is that the last decade or so has been very successful, with CL qualification a regularity. That means that any manager needs to be adept at balancing the demands of competing on many fronts, playing twice a week and getting results. Add to that the demands of dealing with elite players and keeping them all happy when some have to sit on the bench. That’s why the club has appointed such high profile managers who have come with demands the club hasn’t been willing or able to match. If your club is now in transition - with Kane possibly leaving and a need to clear out some dead wood and rebuild- then the profile of the next manager needs to change. Who can spend money wisely to rebuild, manage high profile players and compete for top four? It’s a difficult task. It probably needs a punt on an experienced, yet still upcoming manager like Silva at Fulham.

Nope but I did do some research on him the other day and watched a Tifo video and another of its ilk on him to gain an idea.

Very impressive career for where he’s been and managed, he also has experience of binning off multiple players and rebuilding but naturally there’ll be questions and concerns at the fact he’s never managed in an elite league. You could argue that he’s been the Pep of Australia, Japan and now Scotland though.

I’ve even given him my vote in the poll, though that’s largely because I don’t see the others being interested or us being interested in them.

Also sun some fantastic reading on Ange. I’m coming round to the idea of him. Very impressive and I like his Aussie no-nonsense style too. I’m going to change my vote too.

Matteo Moretto claims that Luis Enrique is in talks over the soon-to-be-vacant Napoli job

Sucks to be you, Vinnie Italian: now you have to get on our shortlist

Australians always play to win, the more I learn about him the more he looks like the kind of manager we need.

Ange isn't Australia, he's the daughter of Jon Voight

    ...wait, wrong Wikipedia article

    Ange isn't Australian, he's Greek

He's lived in Australia since he was 9 years old, that makes him as Australian as any other inhabitant of that antipodean continent in my eyes.

Just saying, when we line up with all ten outfield players on our goalline, that's his Greek heritage coming into play

He moved to Australia when he was 5 years old.

I think I was being shallow on initially dismissing him. Conscious bias led me to a big fat no but he sounds perfect for us. Someone to develop as a manager with the team. He is a proven winner but obviously not in the big boys leagues.

After the last week we've had, the main thing to check is his agent

...okay, he's neither a Mendes client nor a Continuity Raiola client, so we're off to a good start

For the morbidly curious, here's a few more of his agent's clients
    Sonny
    Richarlison
    Pedro Porro
    Dele Alli
    Kyle Walker
    Kieran Trippier
    Kyle Walker-Peters
    Pierluigi Gollini

    ...that's Spurs DNA, right?

Hi guys, been keeping to myself due to s...tstorm that is THFC.
However i'd like to add my 2cents worth on Ange. If any of you want , you look at his entire head coach career of recent times (starting with Brisbane and Melbourne Victory in the A League ,then onto the Oz national team, Yokohama in the J League) and you will find all his teams play the same way. Front foot attacking football . I too like his no nonsense approach. It can annoy some people but it gets results. Would it work at Spurs i think so, he gets my vote.

If he adopts some Spartan army tactics it would be a huge boost for the promotion of LGBT+ in the PL! :emoticon-0148-yes:
