Schumacher is going to be linked with every managers job going. Given what happened to him at Bury, you’d think he’d steer clear of dysfunctional clubs, which Swansea looks like for a start.

Here we go again with the Schuey is linked with stuff. Personally I can't see him being too high on the radar of these clubs given his lack of experience at any level let alone a higher one. That isn't to say he isn't a good Manager. I cannot see him giving up this club with the prospect of him going into folklore. Eventually he will leave of course and if his progress continues then it may well be for a Prem Club but not just yet a while.

It seems that Niall Ennis is at present having a medical at Blackburn Rovers having been offered terms to join them.

That is disappointing....we obviously cannot compete for wages.

Are we BC? Why? I trust the recruitment system we have. Whoever goes can and will be replaced. The only difference is we knew Ennis but have yet to get to know who X is who will arrive. All squads evolve and our's won't be any different.

Why had we allowed his contract to run out....and also Houghton, Wilson & Scarr are in similar positions ?

Go on then do tell us? Fact is none of us know, with perhaps the exception being lyndie, why anything happens behind the scenes and who has indicated they will or won't do whatever. They have all been offered new terms. They may have been offered new terms a while back. They may not and perhaps Argyle were waiting to see where they would be in the next season. Fact is they have been offered them now and nothing says it would have a different outcome had they been offered the same 3 months ago or 3 days. It's football. Players come and players go throughout the league. It's the nature of the beast.

I think Ennis has been an excellent player for us: he has a bit of everything, including surprising appetite for a physical tussle for someone his size. The Argyle player he reminds me of is Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and that’s a big compliment.

However, I’m sure the club have offered him what they think he’s worth and what they have in the budget. Ryan Hardie doesn’t seem to have hesitated for long before resigning. Recruitment has been nigh on perfect in recent seasons, so there’s no need to panic.

I’m disappointed and surprised he doesn’t want to stay but it’s his choice, which may not turn out to be in his interests. I saw.somebody in the local press up there, who’s presumably somewhat in the know, say he might benefit from playing alongside a target man at his new club. That’s a woeful misunderstanding of how Ennis has succeeded at Argyle and doesn’t necessarily bode well for him. If they want someone to play off the shoulder and run in behind, they should have signed Ryan Hardie.

No way could we have offered Ennis a four year contract with the possibility of another year.

A footballers career is short anyway....twenty years long would be outstandingly long injuries permitting....so to get offered 4 plus 1 in one contract is hard to turn down....and he has probably been offered more money than we could have offered him without a snowball effect on other players wages.....we're not in that wages sought of league.

I think Hardie realized that Argyle was his best opportunity of second tier football .....Ennis has possible got further horizon's to conquer and has moved on to try to achieve that.

Just on a postscript, he’s gone on a 4 year deal, presumably on Championship wages that are higher than the best offer that Argyle could make, given the need to stay financially viable.

That’s exactly the sort of thing Argyle can’t, won’t and shouldn’t do. It’s the sort of thing that makes the Championship a financial disaster area.

Let’s be honest with ourselves: there’s a significant chance, although not a certainty by any means, that we’ll go straight back down. It’s been admitted, if that’s the right word, that we’ve gone up at least one season earlier than expected. We’re committed to infrastructure developments needed for long term success at Brickfields and Harper’s Park. We’ve been talking about how the stadium could be expanded.

By all means we can spend some or all of the extra TV money on the playing budget but not so as to put a rope round our necks that’ll strangle us if we do drop back down temporarily.

That's quite modest. Simon Hallett (I think) said the average Championship club loses £0.25m - a week!

    It's not far off that. £0.25m times 52 = £13m.

We were never going to compete wages wise and we all knew that from day one. Of course there is the possibility of going straight back down and there will be many expecting just that. I don't think most of Argyle supporters are expecting miracles and the only miracle would be if we aren't relegated. However, we were not exactly favourites to be promoted this season gone either so who knows. I trust Hallett, the Recruitment Team and Manager to get the balance right and not put the club in any jeopardy. At least one more question has been answered in that Scarr has signed.

Absolutely. I think we’ll be okay. Look at Luton. Premiership in a ground that makes Home Park look like a palace and a town that makes Plymouth look like Florence.

I’ll say again, I think we’ll be okay. But financial management needs to consider the worst case. So the base case is to go down but with a better squad that the one that won 101 points last time out.
