That’s a ban for life in my book. I can’t stand city fans betting on us to lose so a player doing it is a ****ing disgrace Sine die for me
Even if it isn't an official ban, which it should be, surely no one would employ him again. Although I suppose it is the weird parallel universe of Premier League football so anything is possible
Note that he didn’t play in any of those games. He also bet on himself to score 15 times. He repeatedly lied to the FA about his gambling activity. But, He has been formally diagnosed with a gambling addiction, which reduced his ban from 11 to 8 months. I’m not sure that the stats show he was throwing games to win bets, just indiscriminate betting activity. As has been said on this forum many times, it’s not really fair for the sport to promote betting, including to children (by that I mean through advertising that’s clearly visible to children) then complain that footballers gamble. They are human and just as prone to doing things they shouldn’t do - hold your hand up if you have never done something stupid. Seems to me that the ban was about right, cannot just let him off altogether, must set an example, but let’s not end his career because of an addiction.
Wigan Athletic have been given a second four-point deduction for next season after failing to meet an English Football League funding deadline. It means the Latics will start on minus eight points in League One for 2023-24. Owner Abdulrahman Al-Jasmi failed to lodge the money to cover the club's next wage bill by Wednesday's deadline. The club were handed an initial four-point deduction last week for two previous late payments, with an extra four-point penalty suspended. In response, Wigan said they were "extremely disappointed" with the latest deduction, and will consider taking legal action. BBC
I understand there needs to be repercussions But deducting 8 points for late paying has massive implications and could screw the club up even more And i wouldnt be surprised if they go down to league two
Last chance for Hellas Syros to get to the Greek 3rd division. The champions of the Cyclades have to win …
He lied to the F.A up until the point where it was to his advantage to tell the truth and thus reduce his punishment.I certainly wouldn't want to roll out the red carpet for him if he came to the Club I supported. I fully appreciate you're entitled to your opinion and I'm not seeking any sort of argument but in my opinion he's made his bed and must now lie in it...If that means Clubs swerving his signature long term and it impacting his career, it's all of his own doing.
He's obviously got a serious problem that he has let jeopardise his professional career twice. He may sort himself out and have a great career in front of him, or he may not. A risk most clubs don't need.
Some of the time. First match I’ve been to so really interesting - including a flare setting fire to the plastic pitch at one point. The win means their season continues. They need to win their next two too, though not sure if they have to rely on other results.
Yes I absolutely agree, he has to take whatever comes to him, just as long as it’s proportionate. Nobody can force a club to give him a contract, so he has to take it on the chin if this affects his career.
Has baz reported on how tetteh's fitness is coming along. I hope he is ready for pre season. Apparently cyrus christie is on the mend. Oops wrong thread
Valencia have successfully appealed their punishment for the racist abuse of Vinicius junior. The bans and fines have been reduced. Cannot believe they appealed at all, just sends out a message that they don’t think they have a problem.
