The problem is that the feeling fans have for their chosen football team is also being damaged. In order to really enjoy watching football you have to have a team you care about and want to win. Many of us find football uninspiring when you watch a game not caring who wins. It's hard enough to nurture your fanship when it's so obvious that the PL is more interested in money than anything else but when the players take on this stance it's time to consider switching your support to a proper football team that puts playing the game first. It's obvious that many Spurs fans are very disillusioned with their club. It's beyond the point where we just blame the outgoing manager for the turgid football. Levy and his board need to look at themselves. There is little point in creating the infrastructure of a large successful club if you fail to develop proper planning for the core of it all. The football team.
Oh yeah without a doubt. Whatever happens at the moment the anti-Levy/ ENIC chants are just going to grow from now on in and out of the stadium. It won’t mean much though, I’ve said before that owners/ chairman won’t ever leave until they choose to, fan pressure on them doesn’t affect anything, Toon and Utd fans have shown that, Ashley only sold up when the Saudi’s came calling and the Glazers are still around despite almost two decades of protests.
Did you understand that it's not the only thread on this board he compared the poor man's Notts County to the Galacticos yesterday evening?
It really is hilarious seeing him try to spin narrative after narrative about his time with us that have no bearing in reality The fact is that, if there were fans at the ground in his second season, he'd have likely been sacked a lot earlier - especially after the Dinamo Zagreb debacle It's like him hoping nobody noticed us meekly losing 3-0 to The Sheikh Mansour Team a few weeks before the final he was adamant he would've won if we didn't sack him
ENIC are now in such a hole I would not be at all surprised to see them attempt to get Pochettino back. They may have left it too late of course.
His record speaks for itself in finals…he can say that. All he said was he felt no affinity…even our fans(some) don’t feel any affinity to the club…he also angled his discontent towards Levy. Just like a lot of fans are doing.
In his case, though, he's saying it for selfish and self-serving reasons It also has to be said Inter fans felt zero affinity for him while he was there, and the Italian press had little time for him during that period either, which is why he keeps taking PL jobs as our press hang on his every word
With Jose there’s always a narrative and it’s usually self serving. That said, if I was him, with his record of trophies, I’d have been livid with what happened. As a fan I understand the context around why he was let go before the final but even then it’s still a weird decision.
I'm pretty sure this was a money decision from Spurs (as usual) If Mourinho had won the final or maybe even just got to the final there would be a nice big bonus in his contract. Probably another short sighted decision from the board.
If anything it was the exact opposite: getting European football would have automatically triggered a contract renewal, as would have finishing Top 6 - while if he failed in either criteria his payout would be significantly reduced In other words, the board likely had been planning his sacking and the moment we dropped to seventh was the ideal opportunity to cut him loose while minimising his payout, and he's sore because Levy played him like a fiddle
Sam Mokbel is suggesting Graham Potter is the front-runner Matt Law heard to be grunting either in disapproval, or because he's engaging in another round of autoerotic asphyxiation while typing up the same "Spurs, LOL" article he's been churning out five times a week since March
I would be ok with Rodgers or Potter, they play good football on know the PL, they are the least risk. Postegolu, Slot etc have no experience outside of Mickey Mouse leagues. Nagelsman was my first choice and still is, maybe Amorim but he is more risky than others.
Out of the current names, I think Potter would work best with us. I suspect that won’t be enough to keep Kane et al but he would be good for a fresh start on both sides (potter and spurs). But we would need to be patient and not demand he’s sacked next season.
Postecoglou could be a bit of a wildcard appointment which is a bit intriguing. Of his 10 managerial jobs he’s won silverware at 7 of them, albeit is yet to manage at what would be considered an elite league. Portions of Celtic fans hail him as the best manager since Stein for them. Plays an attacking brand of football that involves short quick passing and a very high press. Also has experience of going into a club, chucking deadwood out and rebuilding. Plus he’s an Aussie… sort of guarantees a bit of decent banter. He’d either be a huge success or completely pan. Probably wouldn’t get an in between with him.
