The Swansea valley is the valley that the Tawe is in though surely? So the Liberty sits right in/on it. Starts up in the Beacons, down through Ystradgynlais etc. and ends at the sea. That's the Swansea valley. *no, I didn't read Swarbs' wiki link*
I would say it's about 5 miles to the Swansea Valley from the Liberty. I always thought the Valley started at Glais ...more or less.
But we are talking about from swansea, and that could be counted from the guild hall, and then close into what I said one thing is for sure Swansea is not in Swansea valley
You are wrong mate, the liberty is in landore part of Swansea , and there is no valley anywhere near it, I think you should stick to football and not geography as you are not much kop at it lol
By virtue of the fact that it is literally on the bank of the river Tawe it is by the very definition in a valley. There are also hill on either side. Whether it is in Landore or not, which it is, is absolutely irrelevant to whether it's in a valley. I think you need to not give out lessons on subjects that you know **** all about. LOLocaust!! Anyway, it's not worth arguing about when there are far more pressing issues to argue about.
Yes on the banks of the tawe, next you be saying that Swansea is in the beacons because the tawe runs from there and obviously you know **** all about Swansea even though you supposedly live there! And it was mentioned that Swansea is in the valleys, which it ain't as the valleys start as mentioned about where glais is, if you knew the geography of the area you'd know that is miles away from either Swansea or the liberty, still it's absolutely irrelevant as this is a football forum not geography one where the students still have plenty to learn
Mate, I've lived here nearly 20 years and know the place like a local. There is no defined start of the Swansea valley, unlike the Brecon Beacons which has a clear boundary which I wouldn't dream of extending to Swansea, but, whether you like this or not or choose to believe me or not, the river Tawe at that point IS in a valley. It just is, there is Kilvey hill on one side and the hills of Town and May rising away on the other. By definition it IS a valley. I personally never said Swansea is a valley City, it isn't it's coastal , but as soon as you go up river it is a valley. My geography is far from **** pal. In other news, got a spare?
Mate you knowledge is lacking, the southern point of Swansea valley is towards glais , it's that simple I live in that area and was brought up there! Kilvey hill is exactly that a hill, the other side towards townhill is that a hill while you could call it a valley of a sorts but it's not part of the Swansea valley! There are plenty of references online try using them, and wiki is contradictory as in one part it says the Swansea valley reaches all the way to Swansea then in another part it says it's towards clydach , trebanos and rhos. Obviously the entries are by different authors . But it's besides the point this is a football forum ffs
Nope the Swansea valley extends from glais / clydach upwards towards the brecon, you go and say to someone in bonymean that they are in the Swansea valley and they will laugh at you
Lets be realistic here, Man Utd will be clear favourites and rightly so. If it's 0-2 or 0-3 no one would be surprised but then again Liverpool thought the same and remember, in 8 visits to Swansea Man Utd have never won so you never know. Two things though, 1. Swansea is on the coast, we have docks, a marina and Swansea bay. The city is not in the valleys 2. Safe trip to anyone traveling, there's a few pubs right by the ground very welcoming to visiting fans.
When did I mention Bon y Maen? It's on a hill so obviously not in a bleeding valley. When did I say Swansea was in a valley? I will labour the point only because I KNOW the Liberty is in a valley and that is all I ever said. I am 100% certain on that. **** me, you don't even know the geography of your own city. Cheers. I think it'll be a close fought match by the way, we'll probably sneak it.
Keep up will you, I was speaking to bonymaenjack that was why I quoted him on my reply, and was why I mentioned bonymaen because I guess he's from there And I know the geography fine, that is why I say the Swansea valley is further north than Swansea or the liberty ! And as anyone who is actually from the Swansea valleys will tell you , it's starts from clydach/glais area up towards the Brecon , you want to argue semantics you carry on ! Just go up to townhill / mayhill or kilvey hill and say that they are in the Swansea valley and they will laugh in your face !
Of course they would Jager, because they too are on a hill. Not sure which bit of 'The Liberty Stadium is in a valley' you're failing to grasp but let's just leave it there, eh? Are you going on Saturday? I take it you got a season ticket sorted. Should be great, first really big one of the season at the Liberty. Like I've said, I've been down here best part of 20 years and they only time I got to see United was some testimonial at The Vetch. I went to see Cantona to be honest and he jogged about for ten minutes, otherwise it was reserves or youths. Can't even remember who's testimonial it was? I'm still on the sniff for a ticket but will more than likely make do with the pub. Rooney, Young and Cleverly all rested and hopefully fit after the internationals. It'll be a blinder.
