My recollection of Gayle in particular, and also Gray at the time was, the bids were accepted, but neither player wanted to come to City? Again, from memory, Gray was only approached after Gayle turned us down. Worthy of note that the £9m for each was, and still is as far as I am aware, the highest transfer bids City have ever offered! An often overlooked fact!!
now totally destroyed in a decade and more of messing about with "trial run" road differences especially Temple meads area to bristol bridge old market etc £bns spent and still a mess ... or even a bigger mess .... Bristol has been plagued with a labour council for decades over 20% of council tax is wasted annually ... council should be an executive of say 29 the 5 main parties [ 5 seats each ] each holding the chair for 3 years, they have a vote only when a tie. Tory / liberal/ labour/ green/ independants. The 3 parties with the most seats on the council get 6 reps. the councillors do their own thing for their constituents ...
Alex Scott is in action tonight playing for England U20s. …. live on Eurosport apparently if anyone fancies watching. UPDATE: just checked Eurosport and it’s NOT on ES1 or ES2. It’s being streamed by FIFA for free apparently: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...e-free-tv-coverage-stream-today-b1082419.html
Promotion odds for next season Yes, we are well aware it's ludicrous to be thinking of such on May 24 given what can transpire over the next two-and-a-bit months before the 2023/24 season kicks off *but* it's still interesting to see bookmakers' early forecasts. In terms of promotion (rather than outright winner) City are quite a way down SkyBet's list, below even Ipswich Town (4/1!) plus Cardiff City and Swansea City, who are either managerless or will be soon. It should be highlighted, of course, that whoever makes up the relegation spots along with Southampton will undoubtedly be fancied, while the outcome of the final promotion place is still to be decided with the League One play-off final between Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley this weekend. Middlesbrough - 3/1 Southampton - 3/1 Ipswich - 4/1 Norwich - 4/1 Watford - 4/1 West Brom - 4/1 Stoke - 11/2 Sunderland - 11/2 Blackburn - 15/2 Millwall - 15/2 Swansea - 15/2 Hull - 9/1 Birmingham - 11/1 Cardiff - 11/1 Bristol City - 12/1 Plymouth - 12/1 Preston - 12/1 QPR - 12/1 Huddersfield Town - 14/1 Rotherham - 20/1
It depends on our summer business, but I have a good feeling about next season. I’d never bet on it though it would sure put a jinx on any chance we had if I did.
then place a bet on them not going up! This early betting is bread and butter for the bookie! I had a perfect bet placed before NP took over, had to finish 12th or better to double my total stake as profit .... stood to win over over £1500 in best case scenario! Patience was the name of the game! bets were top 2 top 6 top 12 play off's promotion etc ...
Chuck in Leeds, Leicester or possibly Everton and the odds will change again. Looks like Southampton are after Russell Martin the Swansea Manager.
It just shows the bookies favour better known/been in the PL more recently teams. How th hell are Cardiff at shorter odds than us for example, they're only still in this division due to Reading's points deductions.... or Birmingham. Absolute joke to see Ipswich at 4/1....
I agree - except when (if) potential players believe them and use them when considering whether or not to play for us.
Good point, hopefully the HPC, the ground and NP is well thought of in the game, would help with that. Bearing in mind we’re also in general looking at players from lower divisions now so the pull of moving to the championship along with the factors I mentioned should make us a very good proposition.
bye bye Luton .. smallest ground in the premiership .. Coventry will likely be placed in betting at 5/1 / 6/1 ... did a check on the prices and the set of odds are so unbalanced impossible to call it a "book". Starting point at 3/1 and top 6 @ 4/1 or less, would mean bottom team should be at least 120/1 ! CITY'S [position] would be 55/1 -66/1
Congratulations to Paul Simpson getting Carlisle promoted, probably be playing them in the not to distant future .. 24/25???
well, you could say a multiple choice of answers ! .. shame we got rid of Simpson! Both in PREM both in Lge 1 both in lge 2 both in championship!
