Do you honestly believe that's the way these things should be handled ...

... surely an investigation into a British PM shouldn't rely on gossip from the staff.

Would the public accept a verdict based on the word of a driver or chef who was in his employ, would it have any credibility. Perhaps it would be better if Johnson just told the truth and didn't feel it necessary to hide behind teams of solicitors.

Another win for Rishi Sunak. It really is a shame that he’s being judged on who he’s come after.

The UK is set to win a battle with Spain to host a multi-billion-pound electric car battery plant in Somerset, the BBC understands

The boss of Jaguar Land Rover-owner Tata is expected to fly to London next week to finalise the deal.

Some in the car industry have described the plant as the most significant investment in UK automotive since Nissan came to Britain in the 1980s.

Tata's chairman is scheduled to meet the prime minister mid-next week.

Sources familiar with the matter say that although the deal has yet to be signed, engagement has moved from negotiations to drafting and choreography of how the landmark agreement will be presented.

Up to 9,000 jobs would be created at the Bridgwater site, close to the M5.

There's probably obscure Tories as bad as this knacker but they're barely newsworthy. The actions of the likes of Johnson, Braverman, Raab, etc, will always be more readily debated than a nobody like him.

    They're government ministers ...

    ... he's not.

    Sigh.

Visitors are signed in and out of Chequers. There is a record of who goes in, and who goes out. The staff sign the Official Secrets Act and are counter terrorism checked. Trustworthy people and an ideal source of information.

    Sigh.

Who let him back into the Party and what does that tell us about their attitude towards racist abuse?

Which is the proper way to conduct an enquiry ...

... it certainly won't happen the way you're suggesting.

What, with the investigators asking the people who were there? Aye that'll never get to the truth.

Best we do it with half thought out sixth form political Twitter hot takes instead.

The investigation won't happen the way you've suggested, fact.

They don't need to ask the staff who was there, it's recorded.

Anything else is just you posting for the sake of it.

Was he charged and convicted of racist abuse.

It's a criminal offence so,if he wasn't, the government needs to be asked why not.

I know nothing about him, or what happened, but it seems he was punished, warned and allowed to continue.

Sounds a bit of a Boris Johnson tbh, stupid comments about letterboxes, etc. And to think some people voted him in as PM.

Is that the PM you backed and claimed had united the party.

Whatever, this is good news and, despite the hundreds of millions we're probably paying to get the plant here, will mean we don't keep falling too far behind.

Eh? He came after Boris Johnson who IIRC you used a photo of in your avatar and during the last Tory leadership election your referred to as "top bloke".

An investigation without speaking to anyone who was there at the time simply wouldn't be accepted, either by anyone with any supervision over it or the general public. Fact.

I was about to say I can't believe I have to say it, but then I remembered that posters take leave of all sense and logic when it comes to the Tories and Johnson in particular.

Another thing to consider is why this didn't come out during Partygate.

    You certainly do ...

... you'd defend Johnson if he burned your house down <laugh>

As for this 'fact' you're trying, and failing, to prove.

How do you think the general public will know 'everyone who's been spoken to'. Do you think the names of everyone will be published .... you're talking nonsense and I doubt you even believe it. You've just said something daft you're now trying to defend.

In any case the verdict won't be accepted by you ...

... if it goes against Johnson you'll claim it was flawed, or a witch hunt or the civil service to blame.

And your assertion that they won't speak to anyone at Chequers isn't daft? That would give any defence a huge out to convince people it's not true.

Your method would involve holes everywhere in the investigation to exploit, I want it watertight and I'm apparently the one that would defend Johnson.

All logic and reason - gone.

His entire schtick is getting his opponents so riled up that in the frenzy to condemn him holes are left everywhere for him to use to dodge the consequences, and you've swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

And here we go with your usual routine of misquotes to 'prove' your daft point ...

    ... I didn't say anyone, I said everyone.

You said it yourself, everyone at the gatherings is recorded ...

... they don't need to ask the gardeners if they were looking through the keyhole <laugh>

Whatever happens your Boris man-crush will find a way to absolve him of all blame, you're already getting your excuses In by suggesting the enquiry will be flawed ... all sense of reason and logic as you admitted.

    How totally predictable.

This is getting a bit silly now. No one knows what form the investigation in to parties at Chequers will take, so falling out over pure speculation is pointless.

Having said that, as someone who carries out investigations, albeit of a different sort, for a living, any investigation that needs to stand up to scrutiny will gather as much evidence as possible, from as many sources as possible.
