Trippier, Pope, Botman and Joelinton all have a case to get in. Bruno has been generally great, but looked better last season and up until December this season, the slight drop in form rules him out. Him, Longstaff and Willock stand no chance against Casemiro, De Bruyne etc. Burn has had a great season but is nowhere near the level of someone like Zinchenko. Ditto Wilson and Isak who have both been brilliant, but no same person would put them ahead of Haaland, Kane and Salah.
Only based on favouritism imo...put newcastle players in a more fashionable club and they'd be saying they're great players . The notion newcastle are doing so well with 'those' players is an insult.
Is Trippier really our stand out player of the season though? Surely Botman has to be a bit gutted he didn't get it? From the moment he arrived out defence changed from porous dogshit to the best I'm the league, we've never had a defence this good before.
And he has to dig Dan Burn out of the holes he constantly finds himself in. With a more competent LB, Botman would have been shoe in for team of the season
I would probably go with Ederson over Pope. Maybe not as good a shot stopper but his distribution is generally superb. Critical to Man City’s passing game.
Any other Spurs players in your team? Conte as Manager for manoeuvring the most convenient sacking in history.
and who am i to argue with a seasoned expert like yourself, Obi Wan? since you’ve been watching **** for decades please log in to view this image
The issue I have is what constitutes best team? Garth Crooks would give you the 3 highest scoring centre forwards, 4 attacking midfielders, 3 defenders who regularly score and a keeper. To me that's not a team. No formation or tactics. It simply wouldn't work. So do we mean 'fantasy team' a la Crooksy, or an actual best team based on best individual in each position, allowing for a a tactical formation that could be successfully played in the PL? For instance, where I struggle is could Kane and Haaland really play in the same team? I don't think so. If they did you would have to set the team up in a very specific way and that might exclude others you would want in your 11. So if fantasy team, then Haaland and Kane is OK. But if an actual best 11, then choose one - I'd go Haaland.
You do know that when we play there is an opposition team to watch as well. Well except when we played Spurs at home.
