Can we get something from Man City?

What's the general thoughts surrounding this game? Do we have enough about us defensively to go there and not get steamrolled like so many clubs have so far this season?

Do we have enough going forward to worry them in attack?

I'm full of confidence about this and think we might be able to create a bit of an upset, on current form we are winning games and playing very good football at times and City have looked a little bit less like themselves recently nearly slipping up against QPR, I definitely think they are beatable if we manage to maintain the same amount of discipline and effort going into this I dont think its out of the question for us to pick up a point or even snatch a cheeky win.

What do you think the team selection should be? Its a tricky one with so many decent performers at the moment, a part of me wants to see Ben Arfa get a start and try to exercise a few demons from last season, but another part thinks that could backfire.

I'm really not sure on the team selection myself and was wondering what other people think first.

Any clues?

You could always go around the doors Carol singing to get enough to go for a beer. Even if they just give you money to go and sing in the next street.

Yes we can if we play them on the right day.

 

On the face of it I would say no, we can't get anything from City, but then I expected a 2 or 3 nil loss to Stoke and Spurs. If we can defend as brilliantly as we have shown we can this season, then maybe I can be surprised.

 

Wolves were holding their own for a lot of their match v City a few weeks back until they shot themselves in the foot. So if Cabaye and Tiote are fit then why not. Much like Man U of late, City have been grinding out results without playing that well. If they play at their peak then we'll lose, if they're not quite on it then we have a chance. And confidence is on our side.

 

Everton were looking untroubled until balotelli scored a deflected goal and drenthe gifted them a second. I think we could just do what everton did and man mark silva. He did nout in that game until rodwell stopped man marking him. Think we can get a point. Will be very hard but i think so

 

Could be Tiote's job if hes back from his knee injury, it would probably be his biggest test yet, he would have to be at his absolute best, which IMO he has not been at any point this season.

Overall been slightly more impressed with Guthrie than Tiote and I dont say that lightly as my life now hangs in the balance.

 

Will ben arfa be in with a chance of playing ? Might help being able to have him as an attacking midfielder rather than two strikers as I'm guessing well be under some pressure ! And could help the midfield a bit

 

Someone will get a point there this year, so lets hope its us, we've got as much of a chance of anyone else in the league, especially given our recent form, only Man City have taken more points than us in the last 10 games.

 

Silva has an 11,000 mile round trip to Costa Rica or somewhere in the week with Spain, so hopefully he'll be knackered. That's another thing in our favour, far fewer players involved in internationals so we should be fresher.

 

Was very quiet today, so maybe Pardew should look at how England dealt with him.

 

Hopefully that could effect the game then but the problem is they still have so much quality waiting in the wings on the bench if they wanted to change tired legs, the likes of Nasri and Johnson coming off the bench could be a lot to handle.

If we put a full fit team out I see no reason why we shouldn't get a point. We've played as well as anybody this season and have to be in with a chance of getting something out of the game.

 

Yeah defo, with Ba up front by himself, you could play Ben Arfa as the attacking midfielder or push Cabaye forward and keep Guthrie in the team. Probably keep with Guthrie myself.
