Brilliant job by Vettel, another flawless lap. Don't see why people think the McLaren is the faster car - this is the normal. They do well in P 1, 2 and 3 and in Q1 and Q2, then Red-Bull turn it up and take pole. This has been the pattern for the last 2 years.
Ummm are you Stupid or something? No one said Vettel isn't one of the best out there I said the reason why he looks way ahead of Lewis and JB is because CLEARLY the Red Bull is faster.
I'll throw some petrol on the above sparks: Webber is under-performing this year, and by an unhealthy margin. Vettel has reigned supreme in a car built around him, but there's nothing wrong with doing your best in the best, thereby taking a second World Drivers' Championship - and by some margin! Red Bull have the fastest car. So supreme that Newey shifted focus to 2012 long before the others. McLaren have the best driver pairing on the grid, and by a healthy margin. Hamilton has under-performed this season, whilst Button has occasionally been brilliant. McLaren have the second fastest car. It is only close to the Red Bull as the season draws to a close. - - - The implications for next year would be clear, except for two significant factors: Mercedes also started work on next year's car pretty early, as did Ferrari - who are still favoured by the FIA (!). So, here's a 2012 'out of the box' prediction: Red Bull ahead of Ferrari and Mercedes with McLaren fourth best at the beginning of next year…
Only one can start poorly because they will block of the way for anyone else to pass. Me thinks Jenson might get unlucky.
Guys have a look at the start of these two videos: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8336810.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9188265.stm The clean side doesn't seem like much of an advantage.
I've just been thinking about this. Personally I think McLaren have marginally the better car right now, going back to Suzuka. Whichever way you look at it though, Red Bull don't have the advantage over them they had earlier in the season. I think McLaren's late surge could be good or bad news. If they're piling resources into what will be an old car next season then they're wasting their time. But they haven't been bringing major upgrades as far as I'm aware and I think it could simply be a case of understanding their concept better, which bodes well for next season if they're planning to evolve this year's car, which they surely must do. I'd be surprised to see Mercedes competing with the top three, apart from pitstops, and maybe Brawn's strategy they're poor compared to the other three.
Yeah I will not be surprised if Mercedes stay 4th, they are becoming a stepping stone between the top 3 and the rest of the pack.
If Vettel win's the title next year we might as well switch off our TV's. Anyway Hard Tyres could be horrible at the end of the race due to the track temp being low and it taking more time to get more heat into them. Might be a risk to run them in the second stint?? Maybe or maybe I'm being stupid.
Are they the hard or medium compound? I wouldn't run them in the second stint although I see your point. If you take them too early you could start falling through the pack and lose a lot of time in traffic. I think they'll try to eke as many laps out of the options to reduce the time spent on the primes at the end of the race.
Yeah sorry meant Medium Tyres. Yeah that's right tyre gap seems maybe over a second and will just drop you back into pack top teams will maybe do another Germany. Although I think maybe a Sauber or any other car outside the top 10 might take a gamble and start on the medium tyres.
