If Newcastle get Champions leauge, Jim White will rive the end of his c**k off.Nailed his colors to the mast very very early on, so he can always say he never had a problem with the takeover while everyone else was up in arms for a week.

If it was us in their position I bet most of the country would be wanting us to go down but because its them there will be some sort of 'great club' type of **** floating about. When in actual fact they have contributed the square root of **** all to the PL. They never challenge for honours and always scrape around at the bottom. **** them as well. Arseholes. Hope they go down and down again. Enjoy the Papa John's the season after next you ****s.

Howard Kendall in the 80s. They never kicked on and kept up with the Jonses tbh. Got to cup final in the 90s and Paul Rideout scored but always playing catch up and eventually it will bite the in them in the arse.

Good. 38 league games, plus 2 Cup competitions and then plus their super league.

But but but players can't play 3 games a week apparently.

**** them all. I can hear their hamstrings pinging from here, money grabbing ****ers.

I don't quite understand the point being made. Cause you can apply this to the majority of the Premier league. Its a closed shop in terms of those competitions and Leicester were a blip an anomaly.

I know the original point was about the media "great club of their size shouldn't be getting relegated etc..." but if only way you can be seen to have contributed is Winning the league, fa cup or playing in the champions league all clubs might aswell fold tomorrow apart from the top 4 who can create a super league with the top 4 of Europe. Then we can all pick a team out of a hat and that be our new club!

And maybe that was a fluke - because didn’t he return for a second term , with title expectations because he’d done it before , but they totally flopped

    From Wiki...

He returned to Everton for a second spell as manager on 7 November 1990 following the sacking of Colin Harvey, who was re-appointed to the club as his assistant.[27] This was despite the fact he had built a strong Manchester City side that was near the top of the First Division table, and had only just held their cross-city rivals Manchester United to a thrilling 3–3 draw at Maine Road.[28] He famously justified the move by saying that Manchester City was just an affair, but Everton was his marriage.[5] By this stage Everton were battling against relegation to the Second Division, but he turned their season around and they managed to finish ninth and also reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, defeating Liverpool in the fifth round.

In August 1991, he signed 30-year-old striker Peter Beardsley from Liverpool for £1million, in what proved to be a successful transfer as the ageing striker excelled at Goodison Park, scoring 32 goals in two seasons before signing for Newcastle United. Three months later he added another new striker to the revamped Everton attack, when he paid £1.5million for Rangers striker Mo Johnston, but this signing was less successful, and the player was given a free transfer two years later after failing to attract buyers when he was put on the transfer list.[29]

Everton could only manage mid-table league finishes in 1992 and 1993, and Kendall finally resigned on 4 December 1993 after a dismal run of form in the league, and following a dispute with the board of directors, who had blocked his attempt to sign Manchester United striker Dion Dublin.[30]

My point if there is indeed one, is that sometimes things need fleshing up. Everton have this 60 odd year stint in the top flight and well done to that. But that's all they have. There's this attitude (including last season) in the media that Everton simply can't go down for some reason. The Leicester link is at least they had a go. In the end people got sick of Sunderland, but for a few year of the battles we were entertaining. Then enough was enough. The league table looks like someone has dropped a box of chocolates on the floor, picked them all up, put the obvious ones back in the slot (City etc) then just chucked the rest in where ever and I find it very refreshing. Everton are stale, but ofcourse, all in my opinion.
