I like our crab style sideways football. Hope he keeps it and doesn't go all expansive on us

Seems like another we’re trying to be clever appointment to me. Unenthused, as I imagine much of the fan base will be, which will just mean if we don’t start well next season, the fans will be on his back quite quickly. Not what you want. And let’s face it, it’s difficult to turn a teams fortunes around when losing is so ingrained in them so not expecting us to come out the blocks fast. This is not the type of appointment that we need right now imo.

    This is very true.

It's also another reason I really, really hope that SR give the football dept the mandate to totally rip it up and start again. Get the rot out, get the bad eggs out and start building a new culture. If someone doesn't want to be a part of it or doesn't fit, get rid of them at all costs. Even if it's a loan.

I also think our fans need to put their big boy pants on and get with it a bit, we're a Championship club now and whinging and nit picking on everything at first sight just because the team/manager/club was a total clusterfuck last season won't be helpful. And boy was it a clusterfuck...

So long as we're in the playoff picture heading into Christmas, I'll be feeling quite confident. I would expect us to have a better second half of the season than the first. But what do I know!

I’d fine with this, as I say mainly based upon the Swans fan reactions (whereas not all the Luton lot thought Jones was all that).

Curious to know from those that are underwhelmed by it who they would have been whelmed by (and that’s actually realistic).

There are also a lot of teams that have gone to the PL in recent years with managers who cut their teeth in the Football League, so I don't really see that as any great indication. The CVs of the promoted managers in the past three seasons:

    Kompany - Belgium, the Championship.
Heckingbottom - League One, Championship, Scotland, caretaker role in the PL where they got relegated, Championship.
Silva - Bunch of PL experience/elsewhere.
    Parker - Championship.
    Cooper - Championship.
Farke - Austria, Germany, Championship, Premier League, back to the Championship.
Munoz - Georgia (the country, not the state), Championship.
    Frank - Denmark, Championship.

So, only three had PL experience, and only one of those had any modicum of PL success. Almost all of them are younger...no grizzled vets in the bunch. Think Thomas Frank was the oldest, and all of them in their 40s or younger.

We don't pass it forward that much or that accurately and our shooting doesn't go in the net, or even on target often.

Looks like you got yourselves a new gaffer, hope it turns out well for you, he came very close to getting the boot in March but managed to turn around our 20-game famine, we were the worst team of the form table for months, then for some strange reason, we decided to become top of the form table!........<laugh>

I was one that wanted him out, because his keep ball and passing was so bloody Pedestrian, it lacked any intent and pace, coupled with him bringing the worst keeper we have ever had with him from MK dons, we just leaked goals most of the season, our defensive game under him was shocking for most part of the season, that it is hard to explain given that he Martin was a defender, anyway hope he thrives with you as he was a mixed bag with us, though not all his own fault, our Yankee absent owners are the pits..........<ok>

Get ready to witness Prozac passing!..........<laugh>

Forget to mention there was a massive standoff with RM and his backroom staff after the January window.. Which provably coincided with that horrible run.

He came in for a pile of criticism for his utterly inept defending (Schoolboy stuff) plus Fisher who came with him from the Dons is a league one keeper at best, so something had to give, and while there were rumors he was getting sacked, one of our Yankee owners flew in to speak with him during a London fixture, where they backed him, from there we played the passing game with far more purpose and pace, which had been lacking all season, then our results changed and we topped the form table, I don't think he is ready for a move, especially to you lads who have so many bad players who haven't a clue how to play a possession driven game, and while RM may look good for his last 10 games with us, we were down the bottom half for most of the season, also our players already had grooming with possession football from Potter and Cooper before RM came here...........<ok>

At that time we were desperate for a serious center-back and keeper in the January transfer window to shore up our terrible defense but our Yankee owners went back on all their promises and not one transfer came in..........<ok>

Yeah I did read that too, no wonder RM got mightily dispondant.

    No intent - check
    Crap keeper - check

    Sounds perfect for us!

To the underwhelmed….. I’d be interested to know a name you consider both not underwhelming but also realistic for us

Realistic for an established PL team who have just been relegated? Or realistic for SR?

If we sold an exciting project there is no reason we couldn’t get someone of potters calibre. With SR I think we need to lower our expectations significantly.
