That's not how national financial systems work though. Creating debt arguably makes money. It's all just digits in a computer spreadsheet.
I would rather we spend money on our own military rather than a non Nato member state . Most of it gets blown up in warehouses or sold to Sudan anyway
It's effectively our military, as it is protecting the border from a distance, and reducing the chances of Russia spreading its influence. By being part of the wider group, it also gives China and others some food for thought. We also get to test out various toys and tactics in a live situation, and they're getting excellent feedback and praise from those tests. All in all it's a low investment with a high return.
