It was but they ran into a load of previously unknown structural issues with the roof of the stadium. I gather it’s been pretty difficult to fix and not realistic to do it in-season since.
In fairness this is more useful than light shows, quite a few times this season the screen above Northam has been dead this season. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme, but checking your watch every 5 mins gets a bit annoying. Also helps to remind me which opposition players are on the field when my knowledge isn't up to scratch. Re St Marys roof, I have a feeling that some current Saints fans might live to see the next stadium or at least a totally rebuilt St Marys. It really doesn't seem to feel like it has a long shelf life, at least I don't think we will be there anywhere near as long as we were at The Dell. Modern US stadiums tend to last 40-50 years don't they?
Probably feel they have everyone covered with the two current settings - Quiet as a mouse and ear drum liquifying loud.
