Wouldn't say no to Riis from there if he was fit either.

Whiteman was linked with a £5m move to Fulham in January, there's likely to be a fair bit of competition for him.

They're not getting that for him this summer though. He's got a year left on his deal, Preston are skint and the manager and chairman have both made public they need to sell this summer to recruit. Apparently, he won't sign a new deal either as Preston aren't offering him the wages he thinks he deserves.

I reckon we could get him for around £2,500,000-£3,000,000 plus chuck in Ryan Woods.

Suppose the point is they might get offers from the PL.

His representatives are telling anyone who'll listen that he's available and wanting a move. There is a lot of interest. I'd definitely take him but unfortunately I don't see it

Maybe but the only Prem teams I think would be interested now would be Burnley or one of Cov/Luton. Watford are also interested in him and I do think teams with aspirations for top 6 in the Championship would be his likeliest destination. I imagine a lot of it comes down to whether he takes to the coach, his playing style and goals and the club's philosophy in addition to wage demands.

I'd love to think we're one of the most exciting prospects in the Championship but we'll see.

As much as people got frustrated with Rosie's style towards the end of the season, the notion that we have such an identifiable style will be a huge plus for potential signings as they know exactly what they're coming into, we've got stability under the manager, swelling crowds, we really should be one of if not the destination club (outside parachute clubs) this summer.

If he doesn't go to the PL I'd love to think he should be heading here.

If he doesn't go to the prem then there will be half a dozen parachute clubs and probably a couple others ahead of us in the pecking order that can chuck more budget at it.

Ah, I see. Are we one of the clubs interested then?

We will always be interested when players like that become available, but we aren't alone

why not? It’s commonly accepted we need to invest to compete for top 6. There’s loads of murmurs of Ulker being involved, there’s no doubt in my mind acun/tan are going to be trying to maximise the investment that can be put into the club aligned with FFP. We aren’t skint anymore, Stockholm Syndrome from the allam days all over the shop.

Acun himself has said we can't spend a huge amount, it's not supposition. if Ulker is involved it would have to be through sponsorship to help us improve our FFP position.

Id imagine they are doing their utmost to ensure we maximise how much can be put in, I’m confident we will strengthen significantly. We are already talking about signing this 7m pound mystery man who might even be a left back… keep the faith lads.

Acun has also said Liams targets are not 'big ticket signings' and whilst our adult pass holders pay 40% or so less and in lower numbers than at many other clubs, any external investment/additional sponsorship would seemingly have to offset the reduction in ticket prices first before we see any net improvement to our FFP ceiling relatively speaking.

The ticket pricing is laudible, but comes at a cost relative to some others at the top of the champ.

Wouldn't put it past the owner to have something up his sleeve though. And Dawson's comments in the HDM about superstar signings are hardly dampening expectations...

We'll see. I don't think we need to be throwing huge sums around. Look at Luton and Cov. Let's just be smart with it. Last summer showed the folly in being silly with the budget.

There's no folly in spending money as long as the club/owners can afford it and it's spent reasonably well.

And whilst some of our wages may have appeared 'silly' in comparison to Ehabs tenure, they were less so in the wider context of the championship.

It's equally silly to have redundancy in the budget and being less competitive than we could be as a result.

No-ones saying overspend or be profligate but I don't get this aversion to bringing in established talent at the going rate if the money is there to do so.

Luton are a bit of an outlier but we have no one of the quality of Gyokeres, he’d have us near the top 6 on his own I reckon.

facts unfortunately tell us that investment is needed majority of the time aside from a few outliers.
