ready salted also. I mean who wants ready salted. if you really want ready salted, as klopp would say then come get ready salted.
Agreed they are slow in their build up. Think they just play a high risk game in that they want to draw players to them in order to create space further up the field. But as you say when teams press can go one of two ways. They can play through or get caught. To be fair manager hasn’t been in charge for a year yet so done well to implement new style mid season and get some brilliant results along the way. Be interesting what happens next year and if they can improve on that with the likely sales of mac allister and caicedo. shoukd give them plenty of cash to spend on a new GK, Rb, CB and CM.
AZ should get a 5 year ban from Europe for their fans actions. I see already there's people trying to brush off invading the family section of the west ham fans
Except this season we haven't fallen into the EL spots, we've risen into them. Just a few weeks ago it was looking like no European football, now that really would have been crappy but we've actually managed to get into a European competition. Of course I would rather have CL football but given how the season's gone, we've managed to rescue it in part. I reiterate, given the circumstances, I look forward to a refreshing change (while still not actually giving up on CL).
I have long been on record being happy going for any trophy For me the bonus of the Europa is the double chance of qualification for CL if we can win europa we have the added bonus of maybe knocking who ever is in 4th place into the EL so if we at out of title race next season I would be looking to do that
Looking for more positives - Klopp can add this one to complete the set. I've always said we have a very entitled fanbase and when some are moaning about a season almost written off turning into entry into a European competition, it confirms my thoughts.
1 more win and it is 5th so this is crucial. We should note that a) win the group and we progress straight to last 16. b) the only real difference in terms of fixtures between the europa and CL if you win the gorup is the last 16 is compressed into 2 weeks. the CL last 16 is quote a huge gap between legs. c) the uefa club coefficient is important and being in europe is vital to keep it up d) there is huge compeittion for CL spots in the prem. Winning the europea might be our only route to CL next year (assume top 4 plus 5th if country coefficent is good so if we were 6th say then europea is the only route. City, Arsenal, utd, newcastle, cheslea, spurs, us. Its a top 7 now due to allowing rampant doping to become the norm. e) the money is not great but it is at least better than nothing. 3mil for being in group. 2.7mil if you win all 6 games. 1mil for reaching last 16, 1.5mil for QF, 2.4 for SF and winning it = 7.3mil so all in all nearly 18mil in prize money. (this is 1/4 what you get in the CL lads). add on the TV money. This is where it gets tricky as west sham are going to maybe win the conference so there could be 3 teams splitting the pot. If there are only 2 we will take anohter 10-11 million. So you get 28mil to win this and a CL spot. Compare this to 100million fro CL and you see the MASSIVE DROP but at least is SOME money back in (and doesn't include the 6 home games as well. It'd be nice to think someone could lose 2 games and give us back the 80million we are going to lose out on but its our own fault for losing to leeds and forest. absolutely no excuse for results like that and the payment is coming due.
Yeh there's a big difference in prize money and as fans we could say that means we wouldn't have as much to spend on players but the reality is, for our club, it makes no difference to how much we spend on players. When we won the CL did we have a big splurge, no. We earned £151m in prize money last season, Arsenal and Chelsea both £145m. It made no difference to how we chose to spend in the transfer market (compared to the other two mentioned).
if the team in 5th win EL and are outside the top 4 they take the place of the 4th placed team under present rules Though i assume from next season at least the top 5 will go straight into the CL due to the new horrific format due from 24/25
the current rules allow a max of 5 sides in the CL? if city win the CL and say LFC win the europa and are 5th then the 4th place loses CL. that was my last understanding of the current set up. Yes for sure under the new rules coming (on a year by year basis) the 2 leagues with the best prior years coefficient gets a 5th CL spot. We need teams who take euope seriously in the comps not **** like spurs who throw the games asap.
We've already qualified for the EL; is there any real difference between 5th and 6th except slightly more prize money?
hip doesn't hurt as much but the spending so much time in in the same position is making everything else hurt and my insides are giving me real grief .
is there anything on seeding? I thought fa cup winners get more and more TV money but thst is now moot.
