After all the injuries weve had and him constantly having to put Square pegs in round holes, he never once used it as an excuse. I have huge respect and faith in him taking us forward and developing our young talent to the next level
We've had plenty over the years that would have (Bruce for one), so it's refreshing that he hasn't and just got on with it.
I suspect sky will have been given the nod on that story from the club somehow. Seemed quite specific on detail. One of the things Mowbray has in his favour is his clear connection with and trust of young players. It isnt just talk with him, he walks the walk as well. His reputation in the game, and particularly with English clubs, is really high. I would expect he is the key attraction for prem clubs when considering where to send players on loan. The club will take this into account when considering his position. In some ways I suspect they have fallen into this situation, but it would be barmy not to maximise it. They will be queueing up to send there best young prospects to Mowbray. Less so a new coach they dont know much about. I predict the next step will be a new improved contract for him. Just to show commitment and send a signal to the best young talent. That would be my hope anyway, the fella is a top class coach and I see no reason why he cant get us where we want to be, with the right backing in the market.
If true, I'm glad he's staying. With so much youth in the squad, having an experienced head coach works better for me I feel. That may change in a few years when the model has been in place for a while, but Tony's definitely Mr right now. Playing some great stuff under him whilst developing young talent. What's not to like.
So let's get this right The media break a story that TM is leaving Couple of days later media break a story that TM is staying In effect nothing has happened but media have filled many minutes of TV Radio and inches of newspaper columns Have I got that right?
We're obviously talking to lots of agents about players and staff. It's very prudent . Speakman is making some very good calls. Got Neil, tied to keep Neil, went and got Tony quick. We're due a podcast soon so that will be interesting
Good point, well made I do remember the comments but not how they came about, was it in response to a question from a journalist Not that it matters now all a storm in teacup
My opinion is they reran the story of a couple of months ago. A couple of months ago maybe we were lining up a new man. What the media seemed to forget is the end to the season we had. Mowbray worked miracles really as the injuries just kept piling up. Mowbrays comments post match were that of either an emotional man, or one saying how about a new and longer contract based on what I have done. All in all I reckon the media just got lazy on this. There was never any real threat of Mowbray going after the season we have had in my opinion. He has been working with the mgt team for weeks on next season targets and plans. He is the perfect fit right now and I reckon the club all know that.
Aye. That's the main thing. We can move on and hopefully have a calm pre-season without the usual upheaval. 3 or 4 players to enhance the squad and we go again in August
