My slight take - completely with no knowledge - I didn't jump up and down with excitement when TM was appointed - however I did think he would steady the ship and perhaps consolidate - he has surpassed this and given us an enjoyable season and deserves a chance. However if the manager that has been watched or spotted as a successor was to come available would this trigger a change. TM only has one year left - has he indicated that was when he might leave then perhaps KLD has thought more long term. I think it would be a shame to rock the boat but we are Sunderland and come what may I am still looking forward to next year
Personally I'm fed up with the manager merry go round and would love a period of stability, I am also pleased with the real bond that has developed in the squad and club and with supporters and would hate that to be damaged by getting rid of a very popular coach. TM for me was very much a kind of 'okay if that's the clubs choice, lets get on with it' kind of appointment, but he's done a bloody good job despite all the injury setbacks and has earned a lot of respect from me. Having said all that, everything we have comes as a result of the new ownership, and given where we are now, I trust KLD to make the right long term decisions.
I think the club might want a multi lingual coach. Communication has been mentioned as an issue with some of the young lads from abroad so that could be a reason to change but imo TM has to stay. I'd rather the emphasis was on the players to adapt to the environment
Mowbray will stay. That is from an agent who has a bit to do with us. He does have a bit of an insight, although who knows really. I bet no bugger is in Speakman or KLDs inner circle on here. My sense is these 3 candidates are some way off where we are going. I dont see them or us doing a deal. Honestly dont want any of them, from a coaching perspective. Had we been mid table, maybe. Now though it is like following Fergie at Utd. Mowbray is not the man to follow. Whether Mowbray sacks it off I dont know. I have no info on that. But the club arent going to push anything I suspect.
I hope you're right I'd feel better knowing that Mowbray was staying on for the foreseeable future. I don't know why they wouldn't want him I'm not sure what he could have done better. Agreed that nobody on here knows anything, been like that since Speakman was hired. Tight as a drum these days and all the better for it.
If we are being linked with Struber because he sat next to KLD at a match, then can we also assume we will be signing Dembele from Barca in the summer? Edit: See ned thought along the same lines as me
It is,typical Sunderland though. It would be beyond us to go into preparations for next season with anything resembling a happy, together club all pulling in the same direction. Talksport fuelling rumour yesterday morning doesn't help, added to the constant inferences from some people that all is not well in relationships amongst the hierarchy, despite us having had a season to remember. Bizarre indeed. Oh for a few years of clarity and stability, where we can enjoy our football without a constant backdrop of rumour of personality clashes, strategy differences and general discontent.
It would also be VERY brave. Like many, I thought that staying up would have been an achievement. But instead, we have had a great Season, way above my expectations. Since The Manager takes the blame if things go wrong, it's only fair that he takes the credit in these circumstances. The vast majority of our Fans back him. So, IF he is sacked now, and that of course is up to the owner, then his replacement had better do an even better job. So far our Fans have been very supportive of The Owner. Make a mistake now, and this will change instantly.
