Yeah, I don't really get the desire to keep the band together. They were terrible, and they flat out gave up when survival was very much still on the cards. Throw in the reports that the locker room was in turmoil and I see little reason to hold on to as much of this squad as we can.
100% I can forgive a lack of talent I'll forgive them for being poorly managed/coached twice I'll never forgive them for throwing in the towel with 10 games to go. **** 'em all off. Go sit on the bench at West Ham. Hope you all achieve **** all in your career
The thing is it would only take a few bad eggs who effectively down tools to then make the others look bad. I refuse to believe that they are all bad eggs who couldn't be arsed etc, some of them yeah, some of them just weren't good enough and some of them are good enough but are fighting against it if some of the team are not A TEAM.
Thank you. Someone with some common sense. Seems a lot of people genuinely believe that 30 or more individuals can all have sh*t attitudes at the same time. Laughable. The truth is, as a team, we're just not good enough. I don't buy the giving up crap. It's not just the last ten games where we've been useless. It's the entire season. And some. You're absolutely right about just needing two or three bad eggs. Imagine being a CB and having AMN to your right, constantly out of position. Or imagine being a striker with Elyounoussi as your provider. F*cking hell.
How many times this season did what most of us consider to be our best team actually start matches? Ralph's team selections were often baffling and it carried on with NJ and Ruben, the same with in-game management. The squad has been very poorly managed this season and that is 90% of the reason why we have performed so badly imo.
Would be fairly happy with Russell Martin, to be honest. Not sure what people are expecting? He seems to tick quite a few boxes.
I'd like to hear at some point that we at least inquired about Potter or Rodgers. Otherwise, Carrick, Parker, Solskjaer. Of those we've been linked with, Schumacher, then Mowbray, then Martin.
Martin fills me with no confidence at all. Mowbray only a bit more. I think we should look at Jon Dahl Tomasson. He got Blackburn playing some great football.
There is no chance we would get Potter or Rodgers. We could enquire of course Don’t see the appeal of Solskjaer at all personally. I’d put Carrick in the same category as Martin and Schumacher in that he is a young manager who has done well at one club so far. Parker might be a good option, but obvious questions about his ability if we do go back up, but definitely a good option if we are looking to get promoted out of the Championship as he has done it twice with relegated teams I think.
Solskjaer, Carrick, Vieira, are all names that I think would inspire players to stay, players to join, and also the fan base I think would react more positively. They've all played under top managers too. I'm not convinced by Martin at all really.
Yeah of the realistic names Vieira is the one who intrigued me the most. Think he was harshly dealt with at Palace and did well in his time there, basically rebuilding an entire squad when he came in (something I’m sure lots of fans want Saints to do) Plus he is obviously a bit of a name to players and has City connections as well so seems to tick a lot of the boxes As I’ve said before it’s not like you or I are managing Saints. Whoever comes in will have done well somewhere previously otherwise they wouldn’t be getting the job. Sometimes managers click, sometimes they don’t and we aren’t going to get a Guardiola type who basically guarantees success so just have to hope the new guy clicks and all works out well
I remember the uproar when 'failed' Gordon Strachan came to us. Ronald Koeman was great with us and a failure elsewhere. Nigel 'Who?' Adkins. That worked out ok.
Yeah I’m sure there are countless examples of managers being written off who did well and managers who everyone was excited by failing. Just the nature of the beast and all we can do is trust/hope the person making the decision makes the right call on getting the right person in, whoever that may be. Step forward Rasmus!
To be fair to the twat with the 'best stats in Europe', he did well (twice) with Luton. Just a total disaster elsewhere.
