The Thrilla in Manila is on You Tube but it's pixelated to ****, you can hardly see it. Best ever fight in boxing history for me.
Just shows the value of true competition. The division was at it's best at that time because there were a lot of fighters at a very high level and they weren't afraid to fight each other. I hate to think what would happen if a similar crop of boxers came through now. They'd spend all of their time avoiding bouts and beating up bums.
Some of those Brits look very handy. a few of them very well suited to the pro game. Anthony Joshua is getting better all the time. A good showing next year. Maybe a medal and then go pro. He has it all.

I'm not trying to belittle the bloke but I think even he would agree with me there. Back in the 40's fights were not stopped for nowt like they are now due to health & safety rules. They were allowed to just batter the **** out of one another. Don't take it as though I'm having a go at you ok?
There are plenty of competitive bouts getting made at every weight, except at HW. Real world level fighters going at it all the time. The British HW scene is packed full of great bouts that can be made. Admittedly a lower level, but hugely interesting. Add to that the Irish fighters Rogan and Perez (Tyson Fury is ours too) and the matches that can be made are really good. Perez is a mile in front in terms of skill, but he seems lazy. Fury on tonight and so is a certain Christopher Eubank.
Prime Lewis was an absolute machine. I appreciate it isn't as exciting as all these great fights that were made in yesteryear but in terms of sheer skill, he was unequalled. Size, he had an advantage. The jab was up there with Larry Holmes and could keep anyone off. A typical Manny Steward machine, but that doesn't disqualify him from consideration. History will remember him favourably I think.
Don't hold me to that though. They did mention that they would be showing young Eubank. I don't think they'd miss that trick anyway.
