    I think there was an expectation issue with mckennie. People seemed to think we were getting an attacking midfielder. He has never been an AM. He’s played DM, even CB for a while in Germany and CM, where he’s often box to box. That’s his strength… he’s strong and athletic with a reasonable all round game. But he’s never been an attacking playmaker.

    Agree it’s hard for anyone to shine under 4 different managers.

    Under Bielsa we had Phillips holding, Pablo playmaker and Klich the engine room creating space with his clever running. McKennie is a Klich type player. He'd thrive with Adams and a Pablo type playmaker.

    ... agree, think he was brought in as klich replacement... also giving us flexibility as an alternative to roca in jm's preferred double pivot. Seemed like a smart move at the time

    He's never been the playmaker/creative though that some fans seemed to think we were getting.. his passing stats have never been brilliant anywhere... Just not that type of player.

    Klich could score but weston is hopeless if he reaches the box. Seems to run out of ideas and either makes a bad pass or loses the ball.
