That’s not a good reason to be crowned manager of the season. Just because his team was not expected to be near to where they are? Klopp on that criterion would be the flop manager of the season because his team (especially if we miss a CL place) was expected to strongly challenge City for the title. Remember Arteta will oversee one of the worst bottling job ever seen in a season. Almost all teams who had such a massive lead in February won the title. When City turned the screw they lost or drew winnable games against west Ham and Southampton and Brighton at home. Pep would be quite rightly given that title especially if they achieve the Treble.
Agree with this. Should've been banned from January at the latest. Then return just in time for us to sign him. Think he may have fcked his move. Oh well, his loss.
I can't think of a better way to assign it than by giving it to the manager who did better than could be expected for the team. Klopp has had a bad season. He's redeeming himself at the end, but I would consider this a rare flop season for him. But not worst manager of season by any means or even close.
Regarding De Zerbi. Potter left Brighton in 4th. De Zerbi has it in 6th. De Zerbi has done fantastic to keep them in contention for so long... But I'd have a hard time giving manager of the year to someone who moved down the table. That being said, he has done a good job there.
Villa were 16th and had 13 points from 12 games when Emery took over. 24 games and 44 points later, they are 8th 2 goals behind spurs in 7th for last European spot.
Controversial opinion: Thomas Tuchel is manager of the season. Why? Well obviously Chelsea are utter crap this year, and yet Tuchel had them in 6th when he left which is well above where Potter had them (and he had Brighton in 4th) and well above where they are. Therefore its undisputable. Tuchel is manager of the season for doing so well with such a crap team.
I wouldn't give it to Arteta. Arsenal have collapsed when it really mattered. Two wins from seven at the sharp end isn't good enough. At least when we were in the race we finished strongly each time and took it to the last day. Pep has every advantage it's possible to have, so it's really impossible to say how much is down to him and how much is due to those advantages. I think the Brighton guy is more deZerbing.
Arteta has pretty much sacrificed every competition to go all in on the league then had all his plans scuppered by a player getting injured. I can't stand that mentality in a manager. Don't think he's deserving of anything.
De Zerbi has done very well but I'm not sure anyone who loses 5-1 to Everton can win Manager of the Season.
On the other hand, if it wasn’t for Potters run of good form at the start of the season for chelsea, they could be in a relegation fight with Frank at the wheel
They managed without Jesus and started to drop points after he returned; that's who I thought Treble meant and why I asked
