They may have to sell their entire squad just to get their debt down to a level suitable for the Championship And I think they may even have some sort of punishment awaiting them for the money they spent going up to the Prem
They will lose some key players . Not sure the club has a problem with FFP but the owners are short on money after COVID etc and when they have spent money recruited poorly .
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, really with Edwards too, you know they are going up! Nice, more salt in the wound. Covs or Boro to hopefully help out or aother incoming embarassment here.
I mean they reached the plays off last season too so obviously not a bad team regardless of who was manager But the Edwards saga makes us look silly !
And on Twitter. Oh well - got to win the final now to really rub it in. Hopefully they will play someone who has some tall physical defenders and players prepared to tackle which Sunderland didn't. Basically played like us under Boothroyd and I don't think we were praised and loved for it when getting promoted. I am not sure such tactics would have worked with the squad we have/had tbh but yes did think it was harsh to sack Edwards albeit easy to say was a bad move now. I presume there was more to it that results and performances? Has to be remembered Duxbury was the one who made comments about him being the long term option and changing the way we work. Obviously Gino and co thought otherwise.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been banned from football for eight months after he accepted breaking Football Association betting rules. That might slow them down a bit.
Got lots of time to put more bets on now ! Brentford will be looking for a short term replacement then in the summer . Probably not bad timing as they have time to prepare .
But can't have anything to do with football in that time - no training, has to stay away from the club, can't train youngsters & won't play again until January. Pundits on SSN seem to be suggesting that he's been hard done by - personally I think he's been treated leniently. Back in the 60s, Peter Swan got a lifetime ban, later reduced to 8 years, and also a 4 month jail sentence for a lesser offence. He was an established England player at the time - and missed out on the World Cup win.
Apparently he can train in September so not missing out much really . My Mum asked if the police are involved but presume they don’t think he was trying to fix matches . I think he was changed about a year ago too ! And 3 months of the ban is Pre season.
I think that what Brentford decide to do could be telling. By being unavailable for this period, he must have broken the terms of his contract. This could result in them not paying him as a minimum, up to actually sacking him.
Am not watching it, but the stats for the Boro v Coventry game suggest that neither side is keen to meet Luton at Wembley.
Coventry take the lead with a good goal . Whoever goes through will have to deal with Luton’s physical play .
