In what way is this trying to latch onto success?
It's pointing out that the Republic's leading scorer has got more than anyone in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland's history.
Surely that's just pointing out Ireland's success?

 

There success would be very hard and controversial to hang onto. They are therefore not British.
