Why should your "culture" require an organisation to run it? Comhaltas is an Irish music organisation but the vast majority of Irish music takes place informally as impromptue seisuns etc..

The reason the police bill is so high is because it is a deliberately provocative event. Let me give you an example. Would you find it an acceptable use of tax payers money if I decided to enlist police protection to allow me to celebrate my culture and set up a rousing seisun and open mic rebel song night in The Windsor or say the The Royal on Sandy Row. If there was parity between the two then it would be my right to do so and the police should have to provide me protection despite it being clearly provocative when I could organise such an event in plenty of other places where it would be welcome.

Gay pride is also run by the council so you are barking up the wrong tree there, There is no gay organisation, to my knowledge, that applies to the parades commission to hold the carnival in the centre. However the cost of any violence, (I have yet to see any significant amount aside from the odd Free P protest), is easily offset by the economic advantages of the event.

But you are going out of your way to be provactive. These men have been walking these routes for years. I see you didn't want to answer my earlier example, let's try another. If Loyalists in Belfast bought a shop in the city centre then stood and demanded that the St.Pats day parade not pass by because it was provactive, would you find that acceptable. Then after the parade passed they rioted for days on end and blamed others.

As far as I know there are a group of people that organise the event, do they have a name, I have no idea, do you think Belfast City Council has a gay consultant who knows exactly how to through a gay pride event?
