Macaulay Langstaff from Notts County? https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/...-they-must-do-to-land-42-goal-striker-4142402
Unlikely, he doesn’t really fit the bill, at 26 he’s not young, and it’s hell of a jump to the championship
May be a big gamble but he clearly knows how to score goals. If it was not a huge investment it could be worth a punt.
Nigel Pearson reveals positive Bristol City summer transfer update and hints at policy change Bristol City are in the market for defensive additions and Nigel Pearson has also commented on Alex Scott's status at Ashton Gate https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/nigel-pearson-reveals-exciting-bristol-8442394
The levels are completely different, if he was in his teens, maybe, but he’s not a youngster, plus we have plenty of options up front. I’d be surprised personally
Exclusive: Bristol City set to secure double signing after beating host of Championship rivals Nigel Pearson's desire for early signings looks to have been met with the Robins making some strong moves in the market https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-double-signing-rivals-8443303 (Follow on from above)
If true, good that it's happening earlier. I note the comment in the article about Ross being the defensive midfielder that NP craves. Does this mean he doesn't see Naismith in that role, and more of a CB, again?
Naismith is an expansive DM, I get the impression this guy is more of a defensive DM and a DC , Naismith can do a job at DC but that’s not his best position imo
In a back 4 Naismith would be ok alongside a player of Kalas's calibre. Still prefer Naismith playing in front of a back 4.
I wonder how Joe Bryan feels about coming back to Ashton Gate seeing as he lived the dream of playing in the Premiership? Joe was a well loved player that we all expected to rise to the top and given that he is a local lad it might be nice to see him back in a Robins shirt. Isn't his dad the heart surgeon that fixed Gary Johnson's problems several years ago? I always thought that Joe was a level headed young man who always spoke well during interviews, so I for one would love to see him return, but only if his head is in the right place for a new challenge back at his roots. The other player mentioned in this rumour is someone about whom I have no knowledge other than the information in the news piece. At least we are making ourselves known as a forward, early action, club looking for committed players searching for a place to put their talents on show and seemingly a good look-in at promotion. When I saw a hint of interest in a player from Notts County I immediately thought of Jamie Vardy and his pedigree before joining Leicester, which essentially answers the question as to whether or not the jump from non-league to top level league football is possible. It is.
Think Pring and Bryant LB and LM will be as good anything in the Championship next season. Fingers crossed. Not a clue about the Scottish player, trust in Nige.
Pring LB, Bryan in front with Memheti in Scott’s position if he goes. Also Bryan can play central midfield if required.
Versatile Bristol City prodigy emerges as Notts County transfer target https://the72.co.uk/2023/05/17/vers...digy-emerges-as-notts-county-transfer-target/
Interesting Joe Bryan! the club obviously has a budget and a wage structure, getting him on a free will no doubt be a bonus as it fills a position and the transfer pot for fee's stays the same. Signing on fee plus approaching clubs max wages will likely suit? Only Q is will he be as good as before?
Tomas Kalas contract impasse means Bristol City may play waiting game over defender's future Bristol City are set to publish their retained list in the coming days https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/tomas-kalas-bristol-city-contract-8448322
Interesting, and shows we were not alone in paying higher wages, despite what some on here would have you believe..... I bet Kalas is in a tough spot; he probably thinks he's worth more than City will likely offer him, but having been injured for pretty much the whole of the last 15 months, nobody else is likely to offer him more. This could work to our advantage! When Kalas signed from Chelsea four years ago he was the club’s record signing, approaching his peak as a professional and salaries in the second tier were at a high level, to the point the Czech Republic international’s wage, while high for City, was simply just seen as competitive around the division.
