We dont have a title winning squad. We have a 'top four' squad. to have a title winning squad we would need: 1. Another world class striker. RVP on his own is not enough (and what are the chances he'll be fit all season?). Two high level strikers are essential. 2. Another top class central midfielder. Wenger could either go for someone like goetze or gourcuff and keep Wilshere deep with Song or move Wilshere into the 'Fabregas' role and bring in a more defensively minded midfielder like Yann M'villa. 3. Left back. Gibbs is a poor mans Clichy, while Clichy is a poor man Ashley Cole. Santos is fantastic going forward (far more effective than gibbs or clichy) but he has no defensive bone in his body. Unless he improves (which he might) top teams will take advantage of the space he leaves at the back. Three top signings and we would be a title winning side. Agreed I've said before that Santos is actually very good at defending, it's the silly mistakes giving the ball away which invite pressure which he needs to work on (and his weight and fitness) but that will come - and I believe that Santos will go on to be a better LB for us than Clichy.
He's like the Bendtner of Left-backs then.. Bendtner on form is a very handy player to have, excellent in the air and actually a suitable top man candidate. However its the persistent errors in his game, which makes everyone think he is no good. He is actually a pretty talented player, and has scored some big goals for us (equalising against Stoke in the game Ramsey got injured). He needs to iron out those stupid errors he seems to make like missing open goals. I hope Wenger can keep him happy to stay at Arsenal, and I think the majority of fans have been overly harsh on him, much like they have been with Santos so far.
