Last time we got relegated (to League One), we bought in; - Rickie Lambert - Jose Fonte - Dean Hammond - Jason Puncheon - Lee Barnard - David Connolly - Dan Harding - Rahdi Jaidi - Michael Antonio - Papa Waigo
Interesting final line, given there’s only one year on his deal - which puts him firmly in ‘extend or leave’ territory.
It also strengthens us in finding a good manager too if we retain a core of our best players too. This is a win win.
Tino replaces KWP Smallbone Replaces JWP No striker in our club offers us what Adams does., so out of the 3... weirdly he is the one I'd rather keep.
Not necessarily, he might be happy to see his final year out and then see what offers he has including a big signing bonus. Suspect he's still much more likely to go than not though given the interest he's attracted in the last year or so.
I'm not sure we'd actively want him gone as he'd be brilliant in the Championship but I can see us receiving an offer that we will want to take with him having only a year left. As you mentioned the club won't want him running his year down if they can help it.
Last time we got relegated to the Championship, we bought in; - Ricardo Fuller - Nigel Quashie - Jim Brennan - Jermaine Wright... Cheers Agent Twitchy.
Yeah, we need new direction from both on and off the pitch and as big a fan as I am of JWP and the service he has given us, he is not a great leader imo. Will Smallbone is going to be so influential for us over the next few years.
That one is out of our hands unfortunately, once the inevitable big offer comes in for him he will be off.
Depending on what we raise from other player sales, I’d like to keep Che for the last year of his contract and let him go on a free next summer (assuming he doesn’t sign a new deal). I think he’d be a great striker in the Championship, and we probably won’t get more than £15m for him anyway. Would it be worth selling for that? In terms of manager, I really hope this is announced as soon after the final game of the season as possible. The Championship is all wrapped up now, and the play off final is the day before our last game. If we go for a Championship manager, or someone out of work, there’s no reason we can’t be arranging all that now, and I’d like to think we are.
