I have just been watching football focus and this is apparently going to be the Spain team this evening with a slight defensive re-jig...

    Casillas
    Ramos-Raul Albiol-Pique-Alba
    Busquets-Alonso
    Silva-Xavi-Iniesta
    Villa

I have constructed what I would class as a second team for Spain, using recent call-ups and other players in the squad...

    Reina
    Arbeloa-Puyol-Marchena-Monreal
    Thiago-Martinez-Fabregas
    Mata-Torres-Pedro

So, how many national sides can put a first team out that is better than that? And could this team realistically win the Euro's or the World Cup?

It is absolutely amazing to see how much talent one country can have.

They are clearly doing something right at early level.

There appears to be four left backs ahead of him. Alba, Monreal, Iraola and Capdevilla. I don't really know much about any of them, although I have heard Alba is quality!

Both teams would embarrass England. Dont know who Martinez is but that squad has the best set of midfielders (in particular) in the world by miles and miles, no one else even comes close.

Capdevila's done I think, the general feeling is Jose could get a call up but when Del Bosque was asked about him he said something like "I'm not here to experiment", implying he doesnt think too highly of him.

He is a young defensive mid who is generating interest from a lot of the big teams. Man Utd have been linked with him a lot recently for up to £20 million.

TBH I'd have Fabregas and Puyol over Albiol and Busquets every day

Incredible how much quality they produce. Players like Cazorla and Llorente who would walk into the England side havent even made the reserve team here.

Jesus Navas and Negredo as well, it's absolutely insane.

Even if you swap them around, the second team is amazing!

Nobody ever seems to rate Sergio Biscuits very highly just because hes not Xavi or Iniesta, hes still a class player.

Busquets is a different kind of player as well, he has to be the deep lying player in the 3 man midfield.

Still miles better than Englands first choice line up.

The FA should do some digging, and see what the Spanish FA do at grass routes level.

Because, with the youngsters they've got coming through, you cant see Spain slipping up anytime soon!

    Spain 3RD team:

    Valdes
    ????? ????? ????? Enrique
    Canales Romeu Arteta
    Navas Llorente Cazorla

Need some help with the midfield and defense, but that already looks class.

Possible third team(judging by the recent call-ups section on wikipedia) :

    Valdes
    Montoya Dominguez Botia Capdevilla
    Bruno Soriano/ Borja Valero/ Cazorla
    Navas/ Llorente/ Solgado or Negredo

    Quality team still! <yikes>
