I think our chances of winning our last three games is 50/50. I think the chance of United and/or Newcastle dropping further points is 50/50 (perhaps less for United with their last four games). So at best - our chances are one-in-four. I'd have bitten your hand off for that though a month ago.
As long as we do keep winning it will pile pressure on them. One thing I will say is that Liverpool are used to these end of season races where, even when we've been unsuccesful, it's been by 1 point to one of the best ever PL teams. It's been a while since most of Man utd or Newcastle's players have been involved in an end of season battle - even when Man Utd finished 2nd they didn't have an end of season title or top 4 battle.
IF we're still in the fight on the final day, that last match at Soton will be strange. Almost certainly they'll already be relegated (shame that, because of all the teams in the relegation dogfight they vie with Leeds for me as being my fondest), so we couldn't ask for a better game - on paper. But we'll be nervous and they'll want to give their fans a big send-off. Still, I'll take that considering where we were just a month ago, never mind six weeks ago.
I'd agree with all that. And 1/4 chance after we were practically midtable for half the season is pretty impressive as a turn around.
Think most of us would prefer Saints to stay up out that bottom five but they're already gone unfortunately. Just hope Everton join them
I always believed we'd turn it around so this current situation is worse than I thought it would be. Will continue to believe until it's over; whichever way that may be.
Less unlikely than just a month ago, that's all I'm saying. Now, will I jinx things by watching United v Wolves, or should I get my lazy fat arse out into the garden and mow the grass that has grown as high as the proverbial elephant's eye whilst I was away in Africa for two weeks?
In my Inbox "will United hold on at home?". "Looking for a laugh?" They're talking about two different shows... But how it's presented gave me a chuckle.
The Spurs disrespect by BT Sport is awesome... ... I know they're out of it but they're still above Brighton who've been included
Newcastle still have difficult games, Brighton home Leicester home Chelsea away. They need two draws and a win to open the door for us provided we win all our games. As long as they don't get six points.
Totally diff opinion to me. United have 3 piss easy games so will easily get top 4. Said couple weeks back, despite Newcastle being ahead, they have some tricky games. Lost to arsenal. Drew to Leeds. Home to brighton - tricky game hone to Leicester - should win away to Chelsea - could be anything. If they take 4 points from those 3 games then 3 wins for us will do it. Just have to go beat Leicester on Monday or else it’s all over
Chelsea vs United will be interesting. As bad as Chelsea has been, I think they might step up their game against United.
