Yeah, which could also be a worry for us if he stays. Although he's hardly earned a move away with his performances in the second half of the season.
Has to be over £50m to make financial sense given City’s buy back and sell on clauses. Could see Chelsea doing that or Man City depending on how much they want to protect their asset. Unsure Arsenal would part with that much for him tbh.
To the point, Salisu hasn't been taking part for a long time on and off the field. Pity, I thought we had found something special there. Maybe one day we'll see that but regrettably not in red and white stripes for us.
As much as I defend the players, Salisu is someone I just really struggle to tolerate. Ever since he lost form last season he has just plain irritated me. He has so much talent, but he just doesn't seem bothered in the slightest, and his lackadaisical attitude cost us so many bloody goals. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest what is going on with him now.
It just refreshes the memory as to his first few weeks when we were basically asking 'Saliwho?' I believed Ralphs early explanations but wondered after some indifferent performances whether those reasons were the complete story?
We have no reason to sell for under £50m, so it will be whether someone is willing to spend that much on him or not. Given that Chelsea already bid £50m for him after he had played like 6 games for us, I imagine that it’s quite likely.
I genuinely hope Lavia goes. I love watching him but it will be absolutely criminal if he is playing in the championship next season. He’s wayyyy too good. He is ready for the next step and we shouldn’t stand in his way IMO.
Yep. If we keep him, get promoted we will lose him to a top 6 club anyway as there’s no way we get to have something that good for more than 2 years.may as well sell him now.
If Chelsea are interested again this summer, and Arsenal, Man City and possibly others(PSG, Madrid etc?) Are too, then the £50m will go up and up to the highest bidder, could be an insane amount for a 1 season player in a team relegated! I believe Man City have a 20% sell on clause so they can go up to £62.5m and still only pay £50m so you would imagine they are in the driving seat.
Yeah but if we sell to anyone this summer then it is pointless, and they will have to get involved if they want him. They will get the 20% whatever though. I bet they wish they chucked in a clause that said we couldn't sell until next summer. It's absolutely madness to think they bought Phillips when they already had Lavia!
Lavia's good, but he's not that good (yet), and money is no issue for City, so in their case it was better to be safe than sorry.
Why? He's had some dodgy games recently and has a poor injury record, but he is still very young, has put it in some very good performances particularly at the start of the season, and has all the attributes to become a very good CB with more experience and probably playing in a settled team (and if he can stop getting injuries). He's not perfect, but you don't get called up to the German National Squad if you are ****. He has a pretty high potential ceiling IMO. I expect he'll leave, but we should get a decent fee for him and while I won't lose sleep over him leaving, I'd be happy if he decided to stay, can't say that for a lot of our current squad.
Yeah he could become an absolute beast in a couple of years. CBs very rarely reach their peak until their mid to late twenties. Would prefer for us to let him go out on loan, because a successful year in the Bundesliga and a call up to the Euros will put him in the £30+ region.
Your final sentence also works even without "when they already had Lavia". Just a total waste of £50m.
