The medical staff treat the player once he has been injured, they are not the cause of it. That cause is either from lack of fitness, overplaying players, or preparation by the coaches. I don't think Shota's preseason prepared players properly for the Championship.

They give the tick of approval for players to return to playing. Either they're doing that too readily or their caution is being ignored.

Your point about overplaying the players is a good one, and is something that should be monitored by the medical staff. I think Liverpool have made famous their traffic light metrics for players' fitness, with players in the 'amber' zone flagged for rests, which is based on how they present following games so isn't as basic as 'He's played two games in a week he needs a rest'. These are all things we can and need to improve on.

Some players are just more prone to injuries than others, not sure how getting rid of the medical team will help anything. They are there to help the player recover from injuries, the player they've done that with might've been declared fit to play but just so happens to get injured again in a few weeks. Think about Michael Owen who kept getting injured constantly, his muscles were just knackered from when he was younger, or Jonathan Woodgate, injured every other game he played. Ledley King is another, played with basically no knee, hardly the medical teams fault he injured it again after again. They help these players get back to being fit but reoccurrence of injuries is always more likely after having one previously.

If we're signing players with conditions like those players you mention then that's also a huge concern. I don't think someone like Tetteh has chronically bad hamstrings though, nor Ally, considering they haven't displayed that at any previous club.

I think people are searching for an answer so as to avoid the obvious one for whatever reason. The obvious one is that we need a better team in place to manage players' fitness and conditioning. We need a coaching staff who listen to and abide by the instructions of said staff.

There will be a plethora of reasons depending on the individual players involved. It's a hell of a stretch for any non-medical person on the outside looking in, and without access to details to confidently diagnose last seasons injuries as a structural club issue and start calling for professionals heads.

    In fact it's bloody ridiculous.

I know someone who was having his last physio session after surgery repairing a snapped achilles tendon.
They bent it up...and snapped it again! :emoticon-0119-puke:

    Don't think he sued...just cried

I did Den Den. but was told to either stop or play left handed when they fitted my ICD. Have some dusty clubs in the garage somewhere as I gave up. Was never gonna be as good as Tiggy Woowoo anyway.

I think you have to first accept that injuries can happen. At best you can minimise the risk, you can't prevent them. If someone gets an injury or a reoccurrence that doesn't mean someone must've failed to do their job properly.

Hamstring tears are a bastard, they often reoccur. All you can do is strengthen as much as possible, but it might well still go. Same with any player coming back from a long time out, they often suffer follow-up injuries in the weeks after they return. People with Tetteh's physique often suffer with muscle injuries particularly.

People keep saying that Rosenior blamed himself for Allahyar's second injury, which is sort of true but it was a bit of a throwaway comment as part of a bigger answer where he actually explained that Allahyar had met every metric to show he was ready to return, all his fitness levels were there. What more can we do? Maybe he wouldn't have played three games in a week if we had other wingers at the time, but even then, if all the data shows he's 100% fit then he should theoretically have been fine to play those games, but a muscle can go at any time, particularly one that's gone before and particularly on a fast player like Allahyar.

    That's a shame Benster.
We could have met up with AskyAsky, and maybe even ChaCha for a game.

I sometimes might as well play left handed mind you! (and I'm not left handed btw)

    Not uncommon apparently
You’re the exact opposite of Phil Mickelson & Jordan Speith throws left handed but plays golf right handed…so you should be able to play exactly like him <cheers>

A quick summary of the last 5 pages. Nobody knows why our players keep getting injured or who's to blame...if anybody.

Would love to mate but genuinely don’t have time I can’t even get to driving range and. It’s five minutes from me
And I don’t really play like them
