He may be hoping he does really well in his first season and that ups his value. Nothing wrong in taking a step back if your future could be brighter.
Aye very true, personally I think it’s a step back too…it’s certainly not a step up. Mentioned before that I wonder how he is mentally after such a massive injury too. He may have doubts himself and if someone is willing to take a gamble on him with a long term contract and big wages then fair enough. I also wonder how long Alex Neil will get as manager if they start badly next season. Lad at work is a Stoke fan and he hates the bloke and his style of football.
Sunderland supporters will need to get used to being a club from another planet tbh. There'll always be another club like Stoke, Derby, Reading, etc, who are willing to risk big money on a gamble. We tried it and failed as will most clubs. Who knows what contracts Forest have. We need players to be fully committed to the club, before we sign them and stay that way ... ... at the first sign of them wanting away we should dig our heels in, for the highest possible fee, and kick their arse down the road. I'm sick of the likes of Denver Hume, Grigg, Rodwell), etc, playing games with the club, instead of for the club ... ... if Stewart is one of them he can clear off and take his chances elsewhere.
Since wasters like Graham, Grigg, etc, have gone the team spirit has rocketed ... ... people like them not only take our money they also demoralise young players with their rank bad attitude.
The bitter sweet pill of irony, if we do win the playoffs and then sell Stewart to Stoke. I hope he signs a new contract with us but you are spot on, only if he is fully committed
Seeps into the crowd too, hard to get behind players who visibly don’t care, I never want to return to the days that walking to the SOL feels like a chore
I got nothing but pellters when I said they should get half bricks threw at them and not clapped of the pitch. How times have changed, pity we didn’t do that in the first place.
No, you are right there, can’t think of a better way to get rid of old ones though. Clapping the lazy bastards off
One of the worst I’ve seen was 1-3 v arsenal under di canio he gets sent off and came back on at full time to that stupid di canio tune playing over the tannoy, embarrassing
After the way di Canio played through out his career I would imagine there was no one more embarrassed than him mate.
Totally agree but I'll give Stewart the benefit of the doubt for now. When the Hume saga was going on though, I bumped into his uncle. We just started a conversation as my daughter was in a Sunderland shirt and he told us who he was. I asked if he was going to sign a new contract with us. The response was that we'd been in League one for a while and he felt he could do better. Where is he now?
He was waiting on boro coming in for him but it never happened and his biggest problem was he ended up signing a new contract but we'd already replaced him with someone better
Just checked and he has featured in 20 over 2 seasons for Portsmouth, mostly from the bench. Grass isn’t always greener…
