What I did say, and won’t deny, is that I wasn’t happy with the way the board was moderated during that time (not just you, but by Cym as well). Banning/suspending posters allowed them to join other forums which has partially contributed to why the Arsenal board is generally quite dead these days.

I’m not saying I was an angel either, but I’m sure you’d also say there were things you would have done differently during that turbulent time.

What happened was that there was a load of **** slinging between both camps. As mods what we could have done was delete comments, ban threads and ban posters. But that would have led to even more accusations of bad moderation

So what we did was allow it all and as fans, both me an Cym had a view too and got involved. I think what you and some of the others assumed was that this site would be like BBC606 where the mods are little mice who sit in the corner, say nothing and dish out reprimands

We are fans first on this forum and if somebody slings the ****, then they get it back.

Some of you lot couldn’t handle it and ****ed off to form your own forum. When that tanked you came back to not606 under a new guise and begged me and Cym not to reveal your identity lol

So there’s my dirty laundry aired. Bad form from you airing yours on the spud board th though

 

I think a disrespect for the Mod role has been demonstrated on the Goon board and that ultimately led to its decline.

when board Mods are elected @brb and myself along with a panel of experts(everyone on the prem board basically apart from Munse and Poornarny) can evaluate the candidate before making a final decision with the outcome depending on a series of well thought out questions in order to decipher whether the candidate is fit for purpose!

Allow me to take this opportunity to remind all mods past and present that you do have a responsibility that goes beyond the average poster. Yes we are also posters with opinions but when faced with a threat to ones own board and it’s security then you must put your ego aside and deal with the matter in hand in order to ensure that the board remains a place for all to visit instead of turning it into your Ivory tower.

Maybe you can all learn from me, Mods past and present and certainly future.

I could destroy Munse…this is just an example btw…I could go toe to toe and replace all his gif posts or just delete them till he gets sick and tired…but there’s a fine line…do I want to chase him off the board?

Not really because I need him to laugh at as do we all and more importantly…

What I will say though. And this is a little bit in defence of the spud mods too. Is that as a mod you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

brb will recognise this too. Any situation that requires moderation will have two sides, one clamouring for action and the other demanding free speech and that you do nothing.

So you can’t win anyway

 

In hindsight, what I would have done differently is ban Brunel from the start

If the posters on the board have a backbone then they will understand your decision for the good of the board regardless of a few who will cite **** examples to argue their **** point.

Look at this place…bare people get rough handled by the mods…let’s take Poornarny as an example.

I’ve deleted his posts, edited his posts, bullied him individually and in sometimes in groups of 3 or more.

No one complained…why? Coz they know he’s a knobhed

This isn't true and you know it isn't true. Posters did get banned. Some of those posters also joined other Arsenal forums afterward. And, as you pointed out yourself, others decided to create their own forum.

I agree that there was mud slinging from both sides, but I didn't feel like you or Cym were able to get things under control. Which was your job as mods. There were occasions where it felt like you were both being a bit power hungry and were not acting in ways there were befitting of someone with higher privileges than regular contributors.

I didn't want you to reveal my identity because I'd been guilty in the past of using my real name - which was a huge mistake. And I wasn't sure if you/Cym were vindictive enough to expose who I was under a new moniker.

I'm not going to hide from the fact that I wasn't happy with the way the board was moderated during that time, Piskie. I told you publicly then, I told you privately before in the past and I'm telling you now. It's no secret. The snippet of the post that Saff eventually quoted properly was me using an example of how things should not have been done.

You're perfectly entitled to disagree, but it is my opinion and nothing you've said in your post above has done anything to change my mind.

I’d do the same again. Let people have their say and fight to the death if need be.
