Some big decisions to be made this close season, whatever division we are in, my wish is we keep developing what we have , and who knows how far those three plus Embleton, Ba. and Lihadji can go , not forgetting the likes of Kelly in U21's and Rigg still in school and not out of place in the championship either these are all talented mid- field options imo , no wonder Tony likes coming in to work , exciting times ahead imo. OaU.
well having had a day to calm mesel down i have gone through the whole 90 again without the need to keep an eye on other scores. first 20 or so minutes we were pretty dire to be fair, gooch being our best man, then both teams got into a 'your turn to have a go' game with a couple of near misses to both teams. really took until the 50th minute for it to liven up but was not until our first that the game really kicked off then we took some control and whacked the next two in quick succession and that was it, even then we were still sat in seventh until blackburn got the third, they got the fourth and we could finally celebrate. i could repeat what most have already said, injuries, manager change, young lads but we know the story, all i will add is that ekwah is starting to 'feel' part of the squad now, early shaky stuff has mainly gone and i feel he could be 'that' midfield lad we have wanted for a while.
I do hope we get see it , and here tbh, but not at any price, I think our club has made that clear, there is a development plan and if it does not appeal then off he goes, and we move on . I'd love to know A.N.'s thoughts atm., memories of last years play-off scenes must still be fresh, repeating that will be a dream scenario for us, and a personal nightmare for him. OaU.
The thing will the fact he's so good at it and does it so often when he does decide to go outside and get to the byline he totally catches them off guard. Prime example was the semi final against sheff wed last year when he kept cutting inside but then perfect timing when the other way a played the perfect ball for Roberts winner
I think it's actually how much more space he creates for other I think Diallo would have been even better this season had Stewart played, they were able to monitor our wingers a lot more knowing we had no danger in the middle
I have no qualms saying Stewart is up there as one of the best 3 strikers in this division. 13 games, 10 goals and 3 assists tells one story. The other is the hold up play, the running in behind and the press. He creates a lot of space for midfielders running through the middle. He is some defender of set pieces as well. I really do hope he gets himself 100% again and stays with us, but at the same time the club will know the risks of another contract versus injury recovery. I trust them to get it right.
I am 100% certain he is off to follow Alex Neil. More money. Gamble from a club who have lost the plot. This from a good friend of TM and Pallister
His face during the lap of honour was enough to convince me ... ... I don't think he's PL standard and don't think he's suited to it tbh.
Disappointed if it turns out to be true but we march on without him. The more it dragged on the more it would be turning into the Maja scenario. If he is away then get the deal done early and then let's get 2 or 3 strikers in to replace him early doors move on.
Agree with your first point not the second Smug but sadly we and he may never know. Be sad if that's how it ends but if folk want away then all we can do is get the right money and move on
Agreed mate keep this team for next season regardless of where we are, with a few quality additions to plug the gaps, and keep on bringing young players through and I'll be happy. It'll pay off in the long term and might work surprisingly well in the short.
Massively ahead of myself here but *IF* we got to the final, any idea what end we would get? Same as last year, or does it depend on if it would be Coventry or Boro.
Coventry trains would arrive into Euston so we'd get Wembley Park, I reckon, and supporters kept apart ... ... no idea how they'd manage us and Boro.
Big blow that mate. I am all for moving on and not keeping players who dont want to be here. He is a hell of a good player though and I would play him as our striker whatever league we were in next season. Hopefully if he does go, we get a decent fee and it means we can keep everyone else we want to keep.
I would be gutted if he left but we move on and I’m sure the club will already have targets in mind to replace him. Can’t blame the lad if they are chucking money at him but I’m certain he will come to regret it eventually.
