Well the season has finished-10 points of the playoffs with a small and reduced squad with plenty of injuries to key players throughout the season.
Well done NIgel Pearson clearly sorting the huge mess you inherited.SL or whoever is in charge come the seasons start need to give him a new three year deal and get him signed up.
Looking forward to the next chapter under Nigel Pearson however that Championship is going to be one hell of a lot harder to get out off.

We say that every season.....IMO no excuses, we should end up in or around the playoffs next season......further if we get some decent players in the summer..
But have to say NP has started to turn it around and his formations and tactics have got better..

They will not offer him an extended contract yet, and I don’t think he’d expect them to. He has a year left and it’s a results based business. He has to get the recruitment right over the summer and start next season well, if he does that and we are in and around the top half/playoffs then will be the time for a new contract. If he fails to do that he won’t be offered a new extended deal.

NP inherited an overblown wage structure and squad.
We are now in a situation where we all have confidence in NP the monies from player sales will be spent wisely.
I'd love SL/JL to offer an expended contract to NP asap in recognition of the fantastic turnaround of BCFC.
It won't be easy next season, aiming in all probability at 3 playoff places, but IMO we have the very best manager out there trying to achieve all our aims.

Niges contract runs out this coming season -

On 22 February 2021, Pearson was appointed manager of Bristol City on a contract until the end of the season. On 29 April 2021, Pearson signed a three year contract.

I agree with everything You say, but they aren’t going to offer him another deal whilst he’s got a year left. If the summer transfers go well and we have a good start we’ll consider it. But not before. Listen to the SL interview with GT before the Burnley game. He said exactly that & I agree with him. This next season is going to be massive for NP & us imo.

That means his present deal runs out April 24, how long is left ? A couple of weeks short of a year.

I thought his contract runs out in less than a year.

After all the good things Nigel has done to improve all things football at Bristol City he probably deserves a contract extension, but the proof of the pudding will only show up next season. Nigel doesn't need telling that the next campaign is where he has to prove his worth otherwise he could be shown the door, and so during the summer he has to re-assemble the squad, plus additions, to literally hit the ground running or the writing could be on the wall. I honestly think he is a rare breed that thrives on challenges, such as Bristol City, because he has confidence in his ability to get the job done no matter what happens. He has the ear of Lansdown due to his in your face comments about how badly we were run and then questioned how on earth the bad business practices were allowed to continue for way too long. The mix of managers and players never appeared to work on any level, yet alone produce a vain hope for a promotion challenge. If you consider that Luton may be promoted after only being back in the Football League for just over 10 years it makes our dour version of the game look quite sick in comparison when you think back on our serial failure to improve. Come on Nigel we are all backing you to succeed where so many pretenders to stardom fell flat on their individual arses and now it's all down to you to come up with the goods we all know we want and frankly deserve.

Nice response Mike-think he really wants to take this football club up.
Next season was the season he wanted a crack at getting us up.
I just hope whoever owns the club next season backs him.
Cus he sure had a straight jacket on for two seasons and done bloody well all things considered.

I don’t disagree RR, I really like him, I admit I got jittery after the WBA game, even then I thought if he could get through the short term then we’d have a great chance with him at the helm. We really are now starting to really show promise, if we can get the summer right I’m really excited about next season, COYR

I think Nige is the best we could hope for. I haven’t been excited about him for a lot of his tenure but he’s definitely improved. He’s done ok and there isnt another manager I would rather have at this level now (well, possibly Warnock about 10 years younger)
Let’s hope we continue the improvement.

Which ends at the end of next season. It is not due to end during the last few games of next season.

    He's improved ?
Are you underestimating the mire we were in when he arrived ?
It's taken time to run down expensive contracts and culling the ridiculously bloated squad he inherited.
To finish this season in the Championship after threats of points deduction let alone mid table is a fantastic achievement
But that's history now, he will quite rightly, be judged on where the new signings take BCFC next season.

I was talking about league position improvement since he has been in place.
    It’s getting better.
    I’m pleased. All is well.

Met him at Paulton and he said in person we will be surprising a few. City have done more than alright with a lot less £££, and poor isn't the standard now which it was before.

Do you mean surprising a few with signings , or our future league competitiveness & position ?

Met Pearson before the start of the season at a friendly at Paulton. Chatted to a group of us outside Paulton's club house and the fans view was City would struggle and find it tough hence Pearson saying we will be surprising a few and that City would not be struggling on the pitch despite the problems financially off it, and also that City had some good uns coming through. He was bang on.

He's improved our financial position for sure. What he hasn't improved upon, yet, is our league positions. They are worse than under the last 2 seasons under LJ. Next season is make or break for NP, and probably SL as well. I would offer that part of the reason that investment is slower in presenting itself than SL would clearly like is directly linked to our league positions over the past 2 years (also cited as a reason we weren't featured much by Sky this season).
If we are not a minimum top 10, if not top 6 side next season, and those thereafter, if we don't get promoted, then our 'attractiveness' to investment diminishes - fact!

Our financial position is now, by all accounts, all sorted, or at the very least, manageable, now it's time to put it right on the field and get back to challenging for play-off spots as we did 4-5 years ago. That makes us attractive to players, managers, and investors.
