Ok, not now, but watching the shenanigans with the Olympic stadium and the fight between Orient,Spurs and Whammers (think Orient should get it by the way) - does anyone remember when we were thinking about moving to a new stadium close to the existing O2 ? Not sure what happened, but know that messrs Murray and Varney were seriously interested at one stage.

We would have had a large support among the sheep population. My late brother always told me there are more sheep than humans in Kent. It must be true because he told me it about thirty times.

Well we can develop The Valley into a 40,000 stadium sometime if we ever get back to The Premier League and to be honest we would need to, to be able to compete. In our last stint our current capacity was only just about competitive given clubs like Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham pulled less crowds than we did but if we ever went back up we would need a 40,000 ground to be competitive is just how much the Premier League has moved on since our last stay.

Football crowds wise we are far better off where we are than we would be in Kent. The Valley is a quite modern build and can house us for many years to come, no need for one of those you've seen one, you've seen them all grounds somewhere in Kent. We have the potential to generate 40,000 crowds in the Premier League I just don't see that potential if we moved to Kent.

I went to china. Look in my photos and you will see the only counterfeit shirt of CAFC we found out there(exciting moment for all)- and I received permission from the powers that be for the entire travelling squad(plus a few summer signings when we returned) to sign it.

You'll notice it's fake my the badge and sponsor being off centre and think it has a wonky neck. Its My prized possession.

  10. i was very impressed with that stadium on tuseday when had a look wouldnt be funny to win that in west hams own back yard!it has ideal transport links dlr and central line so why not we did try to get the 02 and move to kent if i recall near bluewater. In my view the olympic stadium would be ideal for us has executive boxes all way round which we could help make more income for the club,so why not at least bid for the site?west ham deal collapsed due to dodgy dealings ,i dont think orient can afford it and spurs want redevelop the lane so realistic option leaves us in prime location to put a bid in so i say go for it see how far any bid take us

I don't think the Club wanted to move to a new stadium in Kent, they were actually looking at a new training ground nr Kings Hill, just off the M20 nr Maidstone way, which would have been state of the art, and far better than the one we currently have at Sparrows Lane. I believe a new stadium nr the O2 was, at the time, a possibility, but that clearly has now been shelved.

I went on the tour to China, we played two games and lost both, albeit one in a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw. There must have been at least 20-30 Charlton fans on that tour.

When the council were rejecting plans for us to increase and even build a big screen- Varney did discuss about uprooting to Kent. Eventually Chris Roberts (Greenwich council) saw sense and commissioned the big screen first, and then was influential in planning permission for the target 40,000.

I remember when the 02 was becoming available there were a lot of rumors about us moving to it or a sight near by, and as has been said I think this was about planning issues with the valley. As for JA's rather ridiculous suggestion of the olympic stadium, why would we want to move into an area where we are competing for fans with all of the north London teams? Leave the Olympic stadium to those north of the river, it's not like we have to increase the stadium right now and we have a great fan base - so if it isn't broke don't fix it!

  18. cant see west ham getting the olympic venue myself to be honest ,especially after the way they have behaved with dodgy dealings to win the vote in first place -leyton orient cant afford it simple as the only ones realistically left who could afford the venue are us and tottenham ,but i cant see tottenham getting it as they want redevelop white hart lane?so if you look at all facts about the stadium and clubs bidding for it i seriously think we could have a fair chance of getting it i would love to see us move into a venue like this it would put the club back on the football map and rest of footy sit back and take notice of our ambitious board!

  19. If jaminez and slater did move i think they would buy the plot of land near the 02 arena ,this is what ive heard while the takeover was going ahead, its the ideal place for a 35000 capacity stadium this also has good transport links with jubilee line and busses in and out of the terminal, heres a question for you all if slater anounced plans for a new stadium would u welcome it\\\\?

I wouldn't welcome it at all - the Valley is our home and though its far from perfect, it is possibly the best stadium in this league and is often referred to as Premier-League standard.

Redeveloping the stadium on the other hand, that I'd welcome, fill in the gaps between the Jimmy Seed, East and West, chuck an extra tier on top of the JS and one on top of the East too.

...And install leather seats in NU, just for those times that the team are playing so ****e that I wish to sit down.
