Watched it this afternoon and was interested in how Steve and Glen both felt that the free kick, from which WHU scored could just as easily have been given as a free kick to us. I thought the same at the time of watching the game, but the ref saw it differently.
It was a sell out St Mary’s for the visit of the reigning champions, Manchester City - but another afternoon to forget for Saints and, it’s a huge match against Crystal Palace up next as we move into the final handful of games before the end of the season. In this week's podcast, the panel review the game against City, look ahead to another 'must win' against Palace and assess whether Southampton moved too quickly appointing Rubén Sellés. Just done my MC catch-up. “If Pep wanted to manage Saints …. we’d turn him down” Brilliant! Great show as always.
It was a must-win game to keep survival hopes alive, Palace at home, and of course, Saints blew it. The panel take a look back at that game and preview the upcoming Friday night game against Arsenal - a challenging fixture even in the best of seasons. Also, there's positive news with Tino Livramento getting minutes for the B-Team and Sports Republic's desire to keep investing in the team despite potential relegation. Welcome to TSP 229! I listened to it this morning. I wasn't going to at first as I was trying to block out what has happened with the club, but did so in the end on my dog walk. It actually cheered me up! Good analysis and sums up where we are and how we all feel. A couple of "Glen's Gems" expressions thrown in for good measure Looking forward to the review of our valiant defeat away to Arsenal!
Watched live last night as I felt like I needed the group therapy session (and that's what TSP has become to me!) Glen referring to Saints this season as 'the turd that won't be flushed' was perfect - no idea how we are still only 4pts from safety.
Glad it cheered you up! We're trying our best to still entertain.....even though there isn't much entertainment to talk about!
As above, yes TSP has definitely become proper therapy. I was going to quote “the turd that won’t flush” as well! Classic.
Just when you thought the season was over, Saints pick up a point at Arsenal and keep the hopes of survival alive. But it could have been more, will those dropped points prove vital? And, there are 6 points up for grabs this week, with 2 huge games. Bournemouth at home on Thursday and Newcastle away on Sunday. Welcome to TSP 230! Martin Starke is joined by Steve Grant (SaintsWeb), Glen de la Cour (League One Minus 10) & Jacob Tanswell (The Athletic) to get you up to date on all things SaintsFC. Two big games, and two inevitable defeats this week – we pick over the bones of the Bournemouth and Newcastle games. In a week where we were hoping for 6 points, we didn’t manage 6 shots on target. Next up, it’s Nottingham Forest away on Bank Holiday Monday, we preview the trip. Welcome to TSP 231! Brilliant listen again guys. Never ceases to amaze me that I tend to agree & say everything you all state. Provides me with some sense that I’m not totally bonkers supporting this team. So many great sound bites but No.1 this week; “Rasmus on Ted Talk saying the league actually does lie” (or words to that effect. Nuts!
19th vs 20th in the Premier League, a chance to close the gap on a wet Monday evening in Nottingham and another loss away from home. On this week's podcast, we review the game against Nottingham Forest, preview the upcoming game against Fulham and discuss what's next for Saints if (when) we're relegated, which players might leave and how the management needs to act moving forward.
