Was he a great manager? No, never said he was, but even if he isn't great overall, I think he deserves some credit for the good he done. He took a job that he was offered in a **** regime. The was no excuse for him not getting any real money to spend in the summer after finishing 5th. Finishing 5th is not just something you Fluke, he played his part there. I'll admit he wasn't great, but you have to give him some credit.
We had a great team that season, and took advantage of Liverpool and Chelsea being awful. He took the job that was offered in a **** regime, for the reason that, even in that regime, the job was far too good for him. He's a bad manager, pure and simple, and one who has had a far longer managerial career than he deserves. Not as bad as Kinnear, Carver, McClaren or Bruce, but that's testament to how we had to take any manager we could under Ashley, rather than anything positive about Pardew.
Being a Newcastle fan was ****ing **** for like 15 years and Pardew was grade A entertainment. People want a manager with the personality of a wet lettuce, droning on about how **** we were as we fall to our latest 3-0 defeat. I always remember Pardews "are you on a negative strand here or?" Then "stupid old ****!" Fighting Wenger Dancing when we scored. Headbutting that dickhead at Hull right in front of Bruce. We were doing about as well as we could and he was funny. Rafa just literally piled on more misery. That's quite honestly all he ever did "yes we are bad and the owners are crap. I'm amazing tho"
I found Pardew a massive cringe rather than entertainment tbh, the on pitch dancing, cockney rants, being a yes man to cover for Ashley crap blah blah. He was like a cross between a slimey estate agent and a letchy old creep who hits on your daughter
T It was bad enough with Ashley dragging Newcastle down without having the Ashley Apologist in charge acting like a clown. He had a good season I’ll give him credit for that. The rest of it was useless and he as a person was an embarrassment to the Club.
Not a fan of Pardew but finishing 5th was the best we had achieved in a long time and will only be bettered (or equalled) this season! Sure there was an element of fortune. We suffered next to no injuries and some of the big 6 faltered, if I remember correctly, but he still got us there. He was not the biggest issue at the club. Mike Ashley was. Pardew just represented everything we were against at the time.
