It was "topical for today" because the team involved had probably the biggest game of their history on Saturday.

Yes. Dolly the cat has been club mascot for 11 years, ever since visiting for a match against Rangers. At matches, she either sits in the stand with fans or sits in the visiting team dugout if the visiting team play in blue - reputedly because a player in blue once fed her a ham sandwich.

    Over to you.

Which American pilot was abused for being the cause of climate change - and why?

Happened in 1998, in response to some specific climate events.

An event which occurs every two to seven years, and is normally held responsible for floods, tornadoes/cyclones, drought and wildfires.

Like the climatic event, the pilot has a Spanish sounding name.

The first of those is part of the answer - you just need the pilot's name, which is remarkably similar.

I'm not sure that I can come up with any more clues without giving the answer away, so I'll give it to you.

In 1998, American news channels were reporting that El Nino was causing floods & wildfires on both sides of the Pacific. The BBC Radio 4's Today programme interviewed a retired pilot in California who was receiving abusive & threatening phone calls from some of his not-so-bright, fellow countrymen - basically telling him to stop causing the floods and fires. His name was Alphonso Nina - listed in the phone book as Nina, Al.

    Over to you.
