Andy Rourke: The Smiths bassist dies aged 59 I never got the Smiths when they actually came out, i was more in to more heavier styles of music, but eventually i eventually fell for the super riffs, melodic tunes and just great songs. You can keep Morrissey, didnt take to him then, still don't now, but i do like some of there stuff a lot, 'What Difference Does It Makes' probably being my favourite Smiths song... The Australian-born classical guitarist, John Williams, playing the Concierto De Aranjuez (2nd Movement) with the BBC Symphony Orchestra: John Williams was born in Melbourne in 1941. His family moved to the UK in 1952. John Willliams has since gained the reputation of being one of the great classical guitarists of all time. Edit: One thing I missed-out mentioning was how glad I was that the LSO conductor at the end acknowledged the superb playing of the Cor Anglais by the lady musician. The English Horn has a such a rich mellow tone, which the Oboe cannot duplicate. The Cor Anglais looks a very difficult instrument to play, and so again, a well-done to the LSO lady musician. She was quite brilliant!

The great Irish U2 singer, Sinéad O'Connor, has died at the early age of 56. What an incredible voice she had. RIP Sinéad.
She was controversial at times Swanny, and did like to push boundaries, but you couldn't deny that she had an incredible voice... After reading up on a few reports on the various media posts today it seems that the death of her son last year was the last story she could get over in. A real shame...

I used to think this was an amazing song but at some point it made me think of someone jilted by their lover, tears streaming down their face, too much wine and reaching for the razor blade. A tad depressing. Seems to be in tune with her all too short life.
Funny you should say that Oddy, and songs with differing meaning to other people... As a fan of the Police in my early years, 'Every Breath You Take' was one that i wasnt keen on when it got released, a bit slow for my taste but i got it's meaning almost straight away. When it was then covered by Puff Daddy and hit the no.1 spot in the charts, heard at weddings for the couples first dance together i did comment on more than one occasion that the song is about stalking your ex-partner... Not the best song to be having your first dance off as a happy couple...
"Living" - Thanks to Amazon 'redesigning' their system for videos on Prime, I have at last managed to see this wonderful film. Bill Nighy deserved a full Oscar for his performance, as did the movie itself. This year's Oscars did not impress me at all, but this weird stuff is what the global audiences seem to want.
