The royal family are of no relevance to me but they are to millions. We could bin the Royal family seize their assets and it would make how much difference?? Politician right and left are the relevance. I vote labour will they make richer when in power??? Nah. Moneys not spunked the Royal family generate cash for this Country.

City have a patriotic bunch here for a leftie City. We hear the anthem sung at games, the national flag is at games and all over flag day, City have a big support of the national team. Divs booing the anthem could get a slap.

Up to now the Police have been beyond pathetic when dealing with the Just Stop Oil mob of leftie middle class whiners with nothing better to do than disrupt normal peoples lives whilst wearing backpacks made of oil byproducts
But in this case the Police seem to have gone out of their way to arrest people for a legitimate protest
Hugely inconsistent approach in our banana republic

I respect the right of citizens living in democratic countries having the right to respectfully protest against whatever suits their mood but I found the booing at Anfield extremely insulting. A few boos here and there would have sufficed to make the point but clearly this was an ethic choice made by the entire club and it's supporters and for me the time has come when they need to wake up and smell the roses. Carrying on this age old hatred due solely to religion regrettably takes us all back to darker time when things were done in the name of intolerance, and unless it stops we could end up like some of the other areas of this world that have been plunged into sectarian conflict or even all out war. The past has gone forever and try as hard as we might the inequities of those times must never be allowed to return, and displays of outright hatred as shown at Anfield can never help retrieve peace and harmony. Shameful.

There were parties in pubs and in streets around Ashton Gate yesterday. Heavily attended by Bristol City fans. We have a different environment.

Their actions at the coronation are currently being investigated - which is right and proper in a democratic society. There are always lessons to be learnt and anyone wrongly arrested should receive an appropriate apology and/or compensation.
I do have some sympathy with the police though - especially when trying to police this type of event.
Let’s not kid ourselves that all anti-monarchy protesters would be content to peacefully chant and wave their banners from designated areas. The determined ones would be shrewd enough to disguise themselves as harmless leaflet distributors or members of the public, before doing God knows what when they got close to the procession - and you can bet that if that happened then the police and security services would be held responsible - more so than the protesters themselves.

Appalling but there is a lot of scum out there with no respect for anything or for other people
Crime also seems to be rising rapidly and car thefts in particular
I thought we’d moved on from such things but clearly not

Some people randomly born on a patch of land are outraged that a song was not sung/booed.<doh>

If you are born on this Isle to a family that has roots here for hundreds, and for some far many more years that is not random.

    I am not outraged.

Nationalism of any kind is ridiculous divisionism and has no place in a modern world.

Being the descendants of people randomly born on a patch of land is still random.

Its like having a problem with nike cos your 1st baby grow someone randomly bought you was made by addidas.

Flag wavers are mostly just ignorant racists if were being really honest.

Your opening line is an opinion. Being proud of your Country, your community, its institutions, your own communitarianism is healthy.

Being born to any family that has lived on this Isle for generations is not random - There is a conscious choice to live on this Isle, and bring up children. I didn't understand your point about Nike and Adidas. The sentence read like you have something stuck in your mouth.

The last sentence, is another opinion, quite possibly your own bigoted racist one.

Not surprised at all this happened in Glastonbury.

It’s all opinions though isn’t it? Your first sentence is an opinion also, calling people bigoted or racist because they hold a different view to yours doesn’t help constructive debate.

The poster used a pejorative in their first post. In their second post they made the assertion that nationalism is ridiculous and something about flags and ignorant racists.

I didn't call the poster bigoted and racist, I suggested their opinions possibly could be. Their posts displayed clear prejudice, and prejudice base upon racial identity. Gammon is a racial insult.
