Another wonderful save from Pickford just before as well. What id give for a keeper of his ability instead of our teenager.
He's the reason why they're staying up. In pretty much any match that they've won or drawn, you can find a huge contribution from Pickford. His save to deny Che at SMS, when I think we were 1-0 up, was massive in that game for example.
A six goal game, and yet my MOTM is a goalkeeper. (But McNeil was very good as well.) Switch the goalkeepers around, and Brighton probably win this game about 5-2.
Yeah I don’t think any of our keepers have gained us points this season & I’ll leave the dropped points stat alone.
You could maybe say that Bazunu got us one point at Old Trafford. But then again, if Theo could finish we'd have won that match even without Bazunu. But aside from that one single point...yeah. I never wanted us to give McCarthy a new contract. And I never wanted us to stick a kid in goal in the PL. 11 times in just three matches that McCarthy has picked the ball out of this net (the fact that three of them were ruled out for offside doesn't change the fact that he was still beaten). Feels like he's barely made a save. Feels like I've still been watching Bazunu.
Yeah he’s been woeful. It was worth changing something as Bazunu was also woeful. But so have all the players in front of them. Just woeful all around really. I can’t believe they get paid millions of pounds to put in performances like they have
I think the keeper situation is a tough one. Feels like majority of goals scored are like the ones yesterday where we get hit on the counter and are so exposed we are ****ed, or we are being battered all game and eventually the other team score. Sure neither keeper has covered themselves in glory but I don’t think either of them have made too many mistakes either, no more than other keepers.
We've already got Armstrong (and in theory Tella). I'd rather not add in Bamford. The last time Bamford was in the Championship, he finished level with Armstrong on 16 goals. And Armstrong followed it with 28 goals, which is a tally Bamford has never got anywhere near. His best Championship season, of 17, was nearly a decade ago and is what Tella achieved this season.
Well Che and Arma may probably will leave tbh. Pretty prolific in that league too. Doubt SR will target a older player though.
