None of that is really a surprise, other than Coyle being in talks, no idea why we’re not just triggering his one year option.
I repeat what I said on OLM's post, last time I checked players other than strikers are allowed attempts.
Only saw the 2nd half, for an end-of-season dead rubber with a lot of second choice players on both sides I thought it wasn't too bad. Anybody expecting goals would have been disappointed, but it's been that way for us for a while. Roll on next season and UTT! Would be nice to see someone put in a decent corner now and again though...
But why not trigger the year, he’s not going to be a first choice player and if we were to get promoted, he wouldn’t get anywhere near the team?
Think the aim is to challenge top 6 next year. Is it realistic to plan now based on an assumption that next season ends in glory?
I wouldn’t assume anything, but I’d certainly have just triggered Coyle’s option, I just don’t think his ability warrants a new long term deal.
If Callum Jones signed a new three-year deal, I don’t see why Coyle shouldn’t get that. Put it this way, Luton are in the play-offs and their squad has a lot of players of Coyle’s ability. He’s more than good enough to be backup to Christie.
Not just in the playoffs, comfortably 3rd. Just listened to Liam on Humberside and I did just wonder if we've triggered Doc because there's a few hundred grand fee to be had.
Doc waving goodbye, by all accounts...Though maybe not. Another midfielder for next year, preferably a QB, plus a left back and we'll be okay...We got enough up top assuming we can keep Connolly and fit, along with Tetteh and Oscar. Could be enough for a sustainable campaign for the play-offs, at least. Top two probably out of reach due to premiership parachutes.
