Good Morning, its Monday 8th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Gundogan's brace sinks Leeds A first half brace from German Midfielder İlkay Gündoğan was enough to confine Leeds to their 19th defeat of the season, and with just one point from a possible eighteen, time is quickly running out for the Whites. It was far from the mauling that was expect, though in fairness the Leeds woodwork took a hammering, as the Champions elect toyed with their prey. Citeh were totally dominant in the opening half, pinning Leeds back in their opening third, with their backs well and truly against the wall. In truth, Pep's team took it easy on the visitors, and it was somewhat of a relief when the half-time whistle blew, and Leeds were only 2-0 down. Leeds came out stronger in the second half, and even dared to venture into the uncharted territory of the half way line; whilst at the same time, keeping somewhat of a disciplined defence. Unfortunately, the Whites found it impossible to keep hold of the ball for more than two or three passes, allowing Haaland and Co to continue their shooting practice. The hosts were even afforded the luxury of missing a penalty, as Haaland opted to give Gündoğan the opportunity to grab his first ever hat trick, only for the woodwork to once, again come to Robles aid. Shortly after, and with only five minutes remaining on the clock, Leeds found themselves back in the game. Rodrigo latched on to a loose ball on the edge of the area, after a mistake from Akanji. The 32yo makes no mistake, and calmly stroked the ball past Ederson to reduce the defect to one. Regrettably, it was one too far, leaving Leeds a mountain to climb in their final three games. please log in to view this image Can Leeds afford to carry Bamford Patrick Bamford has become somewhat of a luxury player, which Leeds may have to do without if they stand any chances of staying up. The 29yo has been savaged by injuries over the past couple of years, which has taken it's toll of the effectiveness of his all round game. On Saturday, over 80 minutes, Paddy managed just one shot off target, and attempted twenty-one passes, completing just ten of them (similar to his performance at Bournemouth where he completed eight of out seventeen passes). As an out and out striker, he is probably the most gifted we have had in a long time, and if Leeds had a stronger squad, it wouldn't matter, but we don't! Should Bamford be dropped to the bench for the final three games of the season? please log in to view this image Stats don't lie. With just 19% possession, and 120 completed passes (201 total), whatever way you look at it, Leeds were completely outclassed at the weekend, by a City side who rarely had to get out of second gear. In comparison, the blues 873 passes and 795 completed show what a massive rebuilding job they have in the Summer, which ever division they are in. Is Big Sam just papering over the cracks? Where did it all go wrong? Do we have a squad that could win promotion back to the Prem next season? please log in to view this image
There is a laughable statement in here on Bamford being the most gifted out and out striker we have. That’s just bollox. Rodrigo was and still is talked about as being Spains No9 he has an enviable scoring record at international level and is right up there with some of the Spanish striking greats when stats are looked at, like goals per minutes played etc. He is just behind Haaland and Kane in goals per minutes played, his accuracy stats are right up there too. He was flying right up until Marsch used him in the cup otherwise he would have had 20 goals by now and would have probably had us safe. He wasn’t given the minutes when he finally came back because Marsch and then Gracia were trying to use Bamford ahead of him. Bamford is now fully fit and fully crap and Big Sam made the wrong call against City by picking Bamford ahead of him.
Bamford is way past his sell-by date. He has served us well but we only have the 3 games left so no room for sentimentallity which means Rodders has to start. I think Big Sam did well to use all his subs to get a better picture and hopefully this will reflect in the Newcastle game.
Allardyce showed in dropping Meslier & Koch that he'll make the big calls and do what he thinks is best for the team. So no one is guaranteed anything and I'd expect more of the same over the next 3 games. Just wish Big Sam had more options because Cooper, Adams and Sinisterra are big losses and that's before we get onto Cresswell, Joffy, Drameh, Llorente & Dan James.
Must admit I'm warming to the idea of Big Sam staying on for next season. Not really any evidence to support that just a feeling that he'll get players playing for the shirt and won't suffer any slacking whatsoever. Quick to mention Struijk's error conceding the penalty and maybe that's what we need, just no nonsense common sense, aligned with grit and determination.
Usually, unless you get a serious crime one, which can last a while. One girl who works for us was on a murder trial, lasted nearly 5 weeks. Lovely girl, the case took its toll, real nasty crime, she had to have counselling for 12 months after it, which brings in another debate for elsewhere about these crimes being tried by professional jurors. My brother was on a ***** one 6 months ago, 2 of the women on that one were really struggling with it.
The Jamster has done it and to be honest enjoyed it but obviously you never know what and who you're going to get. Mine was aggravated burglary with a knife...easy peasy send the drugged up little bastard down
Anyone in Leeds today can see the U21s at ER tonight 7pm kick off. Should be a great match V Villa in the play off semi final, and you should get to see some real talent. Archie Gray Gyabi Sonny Perkins, Sean McGurk, Amari Miller, Mateo Joseph……. Think it’s £5 on the gate
Morning all. Just awaiting the gods to look favourably on us today and this evening. Also agree with Jammy re Sam for next season and let him do the hiring and firing. He knows what's required in the English game. Forget this nonsense of bringing in a dof from Spain or wherever
Good morning all Agree about Sam for next season, and like you not sure why, looks a good fit for us , and just seems a natural head of Leeds & the best post Bielsa appointment we could have made, just hope it's not to late. Although not every ones cup of tea, being regularly called a dinosaur, well i must point out that, Dinosaurs were the must successful species ever to inhabit this earth. Bloody hell, if i am praising him up like this, what will i be like, if somehow he get's us out of this shi* , because after tonight were sure to be in the bottom three, as i can't see all three results going our way. And btw agree Bamford has had his day, was a great servant in our promotion push, but now needs to take a step back.
Morning all This could be the day the last ounce of hope is drained if results go against us. I dread the thought of having Sam in charge next season, I can’t believe this is what we’ve become, very sad indeed
I did jury service in Leeds quite a few years back. We did three trials in two weeks. The worst was a lady who's ex had broken in and used every knife in the kitchen block on her. The photos we quite graphic as one knife had gone straight through her. She survived but must be mentally scarred for life.
