Insomnia is ****. I’ve had it on/off for a few years now. Went out for a walk and coffee at 6. Got stopped by a nice enough homeless guy on the way back. I had no cash but offered to get him something in the shop next door. He asked for me to transfer him a fiver. I said no. He asked for a packet of ***s. I said no and again asked him what he wanted to eat. He said he wasn’t hungry.
You done the right thing. You'd think folk on the street would be grateful for any help. He was taking the piss.
Fully agree ... used to walk from City Thames link to near Tottenham Court Rd in one of my jobs ... was a homeless guy who would have his stuff around the frontage of MacDonalds ... if I passed him I'd ask him what he wanted and go in and get him a Maccies Meal ... he was always grateful and never asked me for cash ... not the most nutritious food in the world but better than fans, alcohol or worse...
It’s sad. Brighton is really bad for it. Probably worse than London per square mile. This guy was more junkie than crackhead as he was quite quiet and well-spoken. Not a bad guy at all. No one wakes up one day and decides to become a junkie.
Off to last game of the season, no doubt a football festival of needless passing back and forth against West Brom. The tap toom has closed down, which means the burger van won't be there, which means the pre match beer and food will both be the absolute pish they sell in the ground. Madhri apparently, but it might as well be Carling it's so lacking in any taste.
West Brom still have a chance of making the playoffs so they’ll be on the front foot all game. Should make it a bit more interesting and lively.
Yeah, I agree. It’s usually going through an unfortunate set of circumstances that leads them to that point. Most of them are very good at pulling at the heart strings tho and most of them have somewhere to sleep on a night. My eyes were open to it all and how they operate a few years ago when I had problems with folk congregating on the steps outside the shop. They were putting off customers from entering and the police opened my eyes to it all and how it all works. The two that I thought were definitely homeless had a hostel to go too. Sometimes they did and sometimes not. It was their choice. As is their choice to act homeless and beg from people instead of getting help to come off the drugs and get a job. They are on rock bottom. Depressed and have addictions. It’s tough but it’s up to them to ask for help and change their life around.
They do indeed. Did hope the Swans would still be in with a shout but they blew it last week. Well, truth is they blew it over the course of the season by conceding injury time goals every other game.
Just booked myself an eye test for later today. Been Finding it hard to read small things recently so probably need reading glasses. Last Had one when i was a kid
